A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 969

The tension between the two over the phone was explosive. Darian relentlessly demanded Yulisa's whereabouts, but Tanya had only one condition: she walked away free, and he got Yulisa's location in return. Furious, Darian unleashed a torrent of rage before slamming the phone down. Twenty minutes later, he burst through the door.

When Darian had left earlier, Tanya was sitting on the couch. When he returned, she was in the exact same spot.

Darian's face was thunderous. He was angrier than Tanya had ever seen him. His hands were clenched into tight fists. "Where is Yulisa?" he gritted out, every syllable dripping with barely restrained fury.

"I have only one demand," Tanya replied coolly.

"Don't even think about it. I already told you, what's between her and me isn't what you think. It'll be over in six months, max!"

Six months max. Hearing that promise again, Tanya looked at him, a mocking smile playing on her lips. "So you're saying I just need to endure this nightmare for another six months?"

"You—"

"This has barely started, and the entire city is already tearing me to shreds. I'm being crucified publicly, and you want me to wait six months? Who the hell do you think you are?"

Six months was an eternity! If the Lynn family—or rather, Yulisa orchestrating things from the shadows—was already pulling out all the stops to destroy her, what would happen in six months? They wanted to rip her apart from the get-go. Darian knew exactly who was behind it, yet he still had the audacity to demand her patience!

"Even if I was just looking for a casual fling, I really shouldn't have picked a guy like you."

"What did you just say?" Darian froze. A fling? The words echoed in his head like a gunshot. He stared at Tanya in absolute disbelief.

Just what? Darian couldn't bring himself to finish the sentence. He looked at her with pained eyes. "But now we're having a baby, and I actually—"

"Stop right there!" Tanya held up a hand, completely uninterested in whatever confession he was about to make. She didn't care about his feelings. In fact, the idea that he had fallen for her felt like a sick joke.

"Just let Yulisa go, okay?" Darian pleaded, realizing she wasn't going to entertain his emotions. If it were just Tanya acting alone, he wouldn't be overly worried about her actually harming Yulisa. But she had Starla backing her, and that changed everything.

Darian had witnessed firsthand how ruthlessly Starla had dismantled Brinley Seabrook. And now, Brinley was dead. Although rumors from the Cyrus Sea claimed Fairfax had pulled the trigger, Darian didn't buy it for a second. He firmly believed Fairfax had just taken the fall for Starla. And now, Fairfax was dead too! When Darian heard the news, he had been profoundly shocked.

In his mind, Starla had cemented herself as an absolute venomous sociopath. Two people who had once loved each other so deeply had ended in pure tragedy. With Tanya mixed up with someone as lethal as Starla, Darian was terrified she was being corrupted.
