A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 991

If this wasn't handled properly, Yulisa wouldn't be walking away unscathed either.

Hearing Starla's assessment, Tanya sighed deeply. "Thank you. If it weren't for you, I never would have been able to get back at her. Honestly, I overestimated myself before. I thought if I didn't want to deal with it anymore, we could just break up, and that would be the end of it."

As long as one didn't step into the trap of marriage like Starla had, things were supposed to be manageable. Unfortunately, the painful lessons of others were rarely enough to save you. Some men were just toxic, plain and simple! When things went wrong, Tanya wasn't like Starla, who had the power and grit to fight back and claim what was hers. On her own, Tanya was utterly helpless.

"Don't be silly," Starla replied gently. "I told you from the start that none of them were good people."

Fairfax certainly wasn't, so why would Darian be any different? After marrying Fairfax, Starla had learned exactly what kind of people made up Darian's family—especially his mother, Rowena. That woman was not someone to cross.

"I understand that perfectly now," Tanya muttered. "I'm never doing this again."

Her experience with Darian had left her so traumatized that the very idea of romance felt tainted. There would be no 'next time' for her. "But whatever happens, thank you, Starla. What are you going to do about Yulisa?"

"Once Darian cleans up his end of the mess, I'll let her go."

Starla remained silent for a moment before Tanya continued, "She's probably terrified out of her mind this time. Consider it a lesson learned for her."

In truth, Tanya wanted to kill Yulisa, but she knew this entire disaster had started because of Darian. She wasn't like Starla. Starla could handle the fallout of her actions; Tanya couldn't. It was best not to push things to the absolute brink. Yulisa's parents weren't exactly pushovers either.

It was going to be a hell of a test for him. Forced to choose between Tanya and Yulisa within a single hour, he had chosen Yulisa without hesitation. But what would happen when he had to choose between Yulisa and his own mother? Starla couldn't wait to see what move he'd make this time.

"It'll probably be his mother who steps up to take the fall for her," Tanya guessed.

"Oh?"

"His mom adores Yulisa. She's the daughter-in-law she always wanted. She definitely won't let Yulisa's reputation get ruined."

Starla shook her head. "You're looking at this too simply. Keep Yulisa's reputation intact? If Rowena takes the fall, her own reputation gets dragged through the mud, and the consequences will be severe. This isn't something Rowena can just sweep under the rug by throwing herself on the grenade. Her actions reflect on the entire Lynn family's reputation. It's not a decision they can make unilaterally. The family has plenty of elders, and no matter how much Rowena might like Yulisa, the rest of the Lynn family certainly doesn't."
