Everyone stared. Was this really how he saved people?
Fairchild took a set of needles from his cloth pouch. His movements were swift as he inserted each needle into various acupoints on Summer's body.
"Sigh, she's worse off than I was as a beggar..." Fairchild muttered, shaking his head as he worked.
The three of them listened to his monologue, not daring to interrupt, completely in the dark about Summer's condition.
After Fairchild shook his head for the tenth time, Easton couldn't hold back any longer. "Fairchild, can she be saved?"
Without looking up, Fairchild grabbed a water glass from the table and threw it at Easton. "Shut up, you brat! Can't you see I'm thinking?"
The glass shattered at Easton's feet. He didn't dare say another word, feeling certain that Fairchild was just getting revenge.
Finally, after inserting the last needle into an acupoint on the crown of Summer's head, her breathing noticeably stabilized.
"Talk about draining," Fairchild said, wiping his brow. He pulled a pen and a notepad from his pouch, quickly wrote a prescription, and handed it to Easton. "Have these medicines prepared immediately."
Easton took the prescription and glanced hesitantly at Janina.
The handwriting was a chaotic mess, but he managed to decipher a list of ingredients—each one exceptionally rare and prohibitively expensive.
Not daring to delay, Easton rushed out to get the medicine.
"Fairchild, how is Summer?" Janina asked anxiously.
"She won't die," Fairchild said, rubbing his stomach. "Where's the food?"
His childlike demeanor had returned, as if the insightful doctor from moments ago had been an illusion.
"Right, I'll take you to eat." Saving Summer was all that mattered.
Summer felt lighter than she had in a long time, completely free of pain.
Ava had already sent Janina the security footage from the hallway. Watching it, Janina seethed with anger, especially at the sight of Iris's smug face.
They say women shouldn't make things difficult for other women, but this woman had done everything in her power to destroy Summer.
"Summer, Vincent and Iris are downstairs. Are you ready to deal with them now?" Ava asked.
Summer nodded firmly, then looked at Ava, Janina, Fairchild, and Easton with deep gratitude. "Thank you. Thank you all so much..."
"Enough with the thanks. Let's go! Time to take down the bad guys," Fairchild announced. Full and satisfied, he was now eager for some entertainment.
While eating, he had overheard people gossiping about Vincent and Summer and had seen the incriminating video of Iris on Janina's phone.
In Fairchild's simple world, Vincent and Iris were villains. Supervillains, even.
