Janina was about to whisper a question when Wendy averted her gaze.
She didn't think much of it. It was their first time meeting Yates, so it was only natural for Wendy to be extra observant on Melody's behalf.
Yates was not only handsome but also had a great personality, doting on Melody with incredible attentiveness.
Partway through the evening, Yates's phone rang, and he stepped outside to take the call.
As soon as he was gone, Wendy leaned in eagerly. "How did you two meet? And how far have things gone?"
Melody had mentioned in their group chat that she was in the early stages of dating a handsome guy, and 'The Graces' Chat' had been asking for updates.
At the time, Melody had said he was still in the 'probationary period,' which made them think it had fizzled out. They had no idea the two had been secretly dating.
Wendy's questions were what the others were dying to know as well.
All eyes turned to Melody, who looked at her friends' gossipy faces with a sigh of nostalgia. Her relentless pursuit of her dream had left no room for romance these past few years.
She'd had a brief relationship in school, but they broke up quickly due to personality clashes.
Yates was her second real relationship.
She genuinely liked him, even to the point of considering marriage.
Her plan had been to take Yates home to meet her parents over the holidays. She wasn't getting any younger, and she wanted to have a baby soon after getting married.
Just a few months ago, she had been adamant about never marrying or having children. Perhaps it was because she hadn't met the right person yet.
Now that she had found someone she wanted to spend her life with, the thought of having children for him felt natural.
As for her acting career...
Yates usually kissed her on the forehead, saying he wanted to save their first real kiss for their wedding night.
Sometimes, though, it was frustrating. She was a normal woman, and there were times when they were holding each other that she wanted to take things further.
But Yates was incredibly self-controlled. Every time she was about to succeed, he would immediately stop.
She knew she wouldn't really cross that final line, but kissing was addictive, and she craved the touch of his lips.
Melody admitted that she didn't have that kind of self-restraint, but Yates did. It was rare to find such a gentleman in this day and age, and she felt lucky to have met him.
"So, he's a true gentleman, then," Wendy teased with a smile.
"Wendy, are you jealous of Melody?" Maggie chimed in with a lovesick sigh. "Maybe you should think about getting a date of your own."
