Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 131

"Melody, what does Yates Gisborne do for a living? Is he always this busy? And what do you know about his family background?" Wendy fired off a series of questions.

No one found Wendy's questions odd; they were the basic things you'd want to know when starting a relationship.

Melody didn't mind either. There were no secrets between her and her best friends, and besides, she had brought Yates today specifically to introduce him to everyone.

It might even help Yates get some more business, Melody thought.

"He's a real estate sales manager," she explained. "His hours are all over the place. Sometimes a client calls and he has to run to work. He's an only child. Even though he's just a manager, he works incredibly hard. He even bought his parents a house, paid in full, with his own money. It was worth millions."

Melody couldn't resist pitching for her boyfriend. "Girls, if any of you need to buy a house, you have to go to my Yates. He'll get you a good deal."

She glanced at Janina with a playful tease.

"Just let me know beforehand, unlike Nina here. I didn't find out she bought a place until after the fact. Felt like I missed out on a million-dollar commission."

Buying his parents a multi-million-dollar house showed that he was not only successful but also a devoted son, which spoke well of his character.

Based on tonight alone, Yates scored a sixty out of a hundred. The remaining forty points were held in reserve; they just didn't know him well enough yet.

After all, relationships take time. People say time shows you who someone really is - eventually, their true colors come out, the good and the bad.

Janina couldn't help but laugh, raising her teacup. "My apologies. I had no idea your boyfriend was in real estate, or I definitely would have bought from him."

Wendy ignored their lighthearted banter. After a moment of thought, she felt she had to warn Melody. "Melody, I've seen Yates before."

"What? You know him? Then why did you two..." Melody immediately jumped to the conclusion that they must be acquainted.

But Yates's reaction suggested he didn't recognize Wendy at all, which made her curious.

It was only a brief glance, and the significant age difference between the man and woman made the image stick in her mind. She remembered both of their faces.

But at that moment, Yates was holding the woman, and they were leaning in, whispering to each other, so neither of them had noticed Wendy.

That's why Yates hadn't recognized her.

The group erupted in a quiet uproar.

Melody was stunned at first. When she processed it, she denied it, though with a hint of uncertainty.

"That's impossible! Yates only has one female cousin, and they're very close. They go out together all the time... Are you sure the person you saw wasn't his cousin?"

Although Melody voiced her doubts, she couldn't help believing Wendy. She knew her friend well enough to be sure she wouldn't make up a story like that.
