Janina was stunned.
Yvonne again. If she was having an 'episode,' she should see a doctor, not call Julius!
Even though she no longer cared about Julius, she was still infuriated by his latest asshole move.
He was the one who had threatened her into going home to cook for him, and now he was about to dump her in the middle of nowhere.
Rage burned in Janina's eyes. She took a step back, trying to negotiate. "How am I supposed to get a ride in a place like this? Just take me near Solara Heights, and then I'll..."
"Yvonne doesn't like you. I'll say it one more time: get out of the car. Now. Immediately," Julius cut her off, his voice rising.
The sound felt like it was right next to her ear.
Seeing his determination, Janina knew he wouldn't take her any further. She'd had enough. She had been suppressing her anger for too long. She raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face, twice!
Julius was stunned and furious. "You..."
He clearly hadn't expected her to hit him!
Wayne was also shocked. Janina actually hit the CEO? Oh my god, what an explosive scene! He shouldn't be here.
Wayne mechanically sat up straight, pretending to be deaf and blind, trying to make himself as invisible as possible.
A sharp, stinging pain shot through Janina's palm. She flexed her hand, her delicate features radiating an icy fury. "Pfft! Scumbag!"
Julius had never been slapped before.
This was the first time, and it was by Janina.
His jaw tightened, and his dark, cold eyes swirled with a storm of fury, as if he wanted to devour her whole.
Just as Julius was about to make a move, Janina pulled the door handle and quickly got out.
As she exited, she kicked him hard in the shin, her gaze meeting his enraged one. "Get lost!"
Bang!
Janina slammed the car door shut.
Julius's face was as black as thunder. He wanted to get out and teach her a lesson, but the look in her eyes just now made his heart involuntarily clench.
With no time to overthink it, Janina started walking quickly. No wonder the road looked unfamiliar.
She'd been looking down at her phone in the car and hadn't paid attention to the route. It wasn't until she got out that she realized she was on Mourning Lane.
Mourning Lane, also known as Ghost Road. Legend had it that ghosts appeared here at night.
Before this area was developed, a few families had lived here. One night, a man from one of those families suddenly hanged himself.
The death was strange. Before he died, he had put on women's clothing and lipstick.
The police ruled it a suicide.
But the man's parents insisted their son would never kill himself; it had to be murder.
With no evidence, the case was closed as a suicide.
After his death, things in the area were never peaceful again.
Over the next two years, more than a dozen people died. During the day, cars passing through would get into accidents. At night, engines would mysteriously stall.
