Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 46

Some people even claimed to have been trapped by a 'ghost wall,' unable to find their way out.

Of course, these were just rumors she'd read online; she had no idea if they were true.

But on this deserted street at night, with only the sound of her own heartbeat and footsteps for company, a wave of panic washed over her.

Janina silently chanted to herself, "Please, God, protect me... evil spirits, stay away..."

Whether it was from walking too fast or from pure panic, her back was soaked in sweat. Not just her back—her face and forehead were beaded with perspiration too. Her feet felt heavier and heavier, as if she could barely lift them.

How far had she even gone? At this rate, it would take at least four more hours to walk to the city.

Janina suppressed her panic and quickened her pace.

Meanwhile...

When Julius arrived at Solara Heights, Yvonne was already half-sprawled on the sofa, dead drunk.

Julius frowned anxiously. "Yvonne, why did you drink so much? You know your body can't handle alcohol."

"Julius, you're here," Yvonne mumbled, her eyes glazed as she looked at him.

"Yes, I'm taking you to the hospital. Be good, now," Julius said, leaning down to help her up.

Yvonne wrapped her arms around his neck and shook her head. "I'm fine. I only called you because I was so sad. Julius, will you have a drink with me?"

Julius knew Yvonne was grieving the lost child. Seeing her like this, his heart ached, and he replied softly, "No, you can't drink. You need to take care of your health."

Yvonne tightened her arms around him, pressing herself into his embrace.

Yvonne raised her glass and clinked it against Julius's. "Julius, this first drink is to thank you for taking me in and being so good to me. You're still the same shining star you were back then."

They both drank.

Yvonne kept refilling Julius's glass.

The more Julius drank, the more agitated he became. All the events of the past few weeks replayed in his mind, making him even more frustrated.

Yvonne took his hand, her voice, thick with intoxication, turning slightly hoarse. "Julius, you've had too much. You should stop drinking."

Julius still had a sliver of sobriety left. He looked at her through hazy eyes, a bitter smile on his lips.

"She left. Heh, she's gone..."
