ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE BILLIONAIRE SINGLE DAD (Gabrielle and Damon) novel Chapter 150

CHAPTER 150

GABRIELLE’S POV

Morning came too quickly.

I had barely slept.

I spent the entire night tossing and turningand sometimes just watching Damon sleep.

The sight of his chest going up and down with each breath he took finally eased my anxiety.

But, I couldn’t help but wonder what secrets he was keeping that would have rival families coming after us.

I also needed to speak to my Father.

Rocco could be planning something and it’d be great for him to be aware beforehand. But he was all the way back home and I was in Italy.

We were many hours away from each other.

I couldn’t leave Damon’s side either as he could wake up anytime soon.

My head started aching.

A knock came on the door, dragging me out of my heavy thoughts.

I opened it and Rhys was standing there with takeout, his expression tight like he hadn’t slept either.

Fiorella said to bring this to you,he said. She said you didn’t eat anything yesterday.

I opened the door wider so he could step in. I don’t know what I’d do without her. Thank you.

Rhys nodded as he walked past me and dropped it on the desk beside my

bed.

He turned to Damon and just stood there, watching him silently.

I broke the silence. The doctor said we should expect good news soon.

He glanced at me and turned back to his brother. Yes. I spoke to her on my way in.

A moment of silence passed between us.

We barely ever spoke and when we did, it always ended in a fight,he said. But I always knew my brother was still in there

beneath his cold exterior.

I couldn’t agree more.

My earlier moments with Damon had not been pleasant.

I never hated him, though. What I hated was how cold and unbothered he always seemed. Sometimes, I even envied it.

I felt everything too deeply.

I cared too much and too loudly.

Damon was the opposite.

He cared just as muchbut in a quiet, consuming way.

I turned to look at him. Last night was crazy. I could barely get any sleep. I kept thinking he’d wake up during the night.

Rhys shoved his hands into his pocket. Yeah. I couldn’t get any sleep either. Had to make a lot of calls.

I blinked. Why? Rocco called you too?

No,he said, his eyes turning to me. What did you talk about?

With a shaky voice, I told him everything Rocco said, and the threats he made to us and my father.

He rubbed his hand over his face when I was done. Christ, when does it fucking end?

I could speak to my father,I said. I need to warn him, even if he’s still upset with me.

Rhys shook his head. Rocco would be expecting you to do that. By the way, the flight there and back would take almost twenty hours. Damon would wake up before then.

My chest heaved. I know. But this is my father we’re talking about. I can’t just sit back and do nothing.

My brother wouldn’t want you going anywhere alone henceforth,he said. I’ll send someone in your place to talk to your father.

I wanted to argue but the ache in my head returned, stronger this time.

Rhys brought out his phone and started texting someone.

What’s the secret between Damon and Rocco?I suddenly asked.

Damon promised to tell me everything but then, he got shot. As much as I wanted to hear everything from him, I was also tired of being in the dark.

Rhys eyed darkened. I don’t know.

You’re lying.

Maybe,he said quietly. “But it’s not my secret to tell. And I don’t know the whole story either.

A single knock came on the door before I could respond and a nurse stepped in.

Good morning, she said softly as she walked toward Damon’s bed. I’m just here to check on him.

Rhys stepped aside to give her space.

She glanced at the monitors before gently lifting Damon’s wrist to check his pulse.

The sedative we used, propofol, should be wearing off soon, she explained. If everything goes well, we might see him regain consciousness today.

My heart skipped.

Today?I asked quietly.

She nodded.

Yes. His vitals have been stable all night.

Rhys let out a slow breath beside me, like he had been holding it in for hours.

I’ll send security,he said, slipping his phone back into his pocket. His gaze lingered on Damon for a moment before shifting to me. Please don’t leave this building without telling me.

I won’t.

Then he walked out of the room.

The nurse adjusted Damon’s IV before turning to me. You should sit down, ma’am,she said gently.

I’m fine,I replied, even though my head was still aching.

I was too anxious about everything to relax.

The nurse frowned slightly. You look very pale, ma’am. That’s not a good sign.

I said I’m fine.

She stepped closer regardless, studying my face. Even if you shout at me, I have to do my job. You don’t look well, ma’am. Have you eaten anything this morning?

I’m not hungry.

Her eyes softened but there was a firmness in her voice when she spoke again. You’re pregnant. You can’t afford to ignore things like dizziness or exhaustion.

I’m not dizzy,I insisted.

The room tilted slightly.

I grabbed the edge of the bed to hold myself up. Yeah, maybe she had a point.
