ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE BILLIONAIRE SINGLE DAD (Gabrielle and Damon) novel Chapter 20

Chapter 20

DAMON’S POV

I locked the door behind us. You think she believes that?

Fiorella was sitting on the bed. Oh, honey, she did. You think that was the right thing to do?

I walked into my closet and came out with a black box. It’s not about right or wrong. It’s about keeping her away from all

this mess.”

She tilted her head. By making her hate you?

I opened the compartment attached to the box, revealing the small silver key inside. Better she hates me than ends up like the others or worse, like me.

Fiorella smiled faintly. You always say that, but you never let go, Damon. Not really.”

I looked toward the closed door where Gabrielle had stood minutes ago, her voice still echoing in my head. Not until you explain who she is.

I wished I could.

Fiorella took the key from me, opened the box and pulled out the chains. It’s not your fault. But you have to tell her the truth.

I scoffed. Because she hates you now?

She laughed. Your previous wives did but I never cared. You said her touch made you feel so I’m guessing she’s special.

She’s not,I snapped. She’s not special. Just get to work and let it be.”

If you say so, Damon, she said with a smile. Now, take off your clothes.

GABRIELLE’S POV

Oh, my goodness,” I woke up with a groan the next morning.

I felt a splitting headache in one side of my head as I opened my eyes. A disappointed face was staring down at me and I had to blink twice to see it clearly.

It was George’s.

Good morning, Miss Gabrielle,” he said, his voice even more disappointing.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes.

When I reopened them, I realized I was lying on the bathroom floor

Don’t tell me I slept here,I muttered, looking around at the towel on the floor, the empty scotch bottle, and my phone

facedown beside the toilet.

George sighed. I tried to wake you. You told meand I quoteleave me to die in peace.

I groaned again, burying my face in my hands. Oh God. That sounds like me.

He cleared his throat softly. Mr. Damon is waiting for you in the living room.”

That woke me faster than a bucket of ice.

Did he see me this way?I asked, standing up.

He was the first to see you this morning,” George responded. Susan is making you tea and my duty is to wake you up.

I stared at him, horrified. You’re telling me he saw me lying here like this?

George gave a small shrug. He didn’t say anything. Just told me not to let you stay there too long.”

I pressed a hand to my forehead. Fantastic. Now he probably thinks I’m a drunk, pathetic mess.”

His words were moreneutral,George replied carefully.

That somehow made it worse.

I entered the bedroom and my clothes were all over the place. Yes, maybe I was turning into an alcoholic.

Don’t worry,George said. The other staffs will help with that.

I muttered a thank you under my breath and went to freshen up. By the time I came out, my clothes were back to the closet and my room was sparkling.

A cup of tea sat on my dresser, heavens bless Susan.

I popped some painkillers and drank my tea before deciding on what to wear. I wanted to look casual so it wouldn’t look like I was trying to outdo Fiorella after last night.

Not that I could if I tried. That woman was stunning and honestly, I didn’t blame Damon. If I was a man, I’d want her too.

I wore a low rise baggy jeans and a crop top. I put my hair in a messy bun and decided that was all I needed. Until I looked in the mirror and saw that I looked as pale as a dead body. My eyes were red and puffy too.

I decided to apply my lip combo and wear a sunglass.

Damon was sitting across a middleaged man when I walked in.

Their conversation stopped immediately.

His eyes lifted to me, calm and unreadable, like last night hadn’t happened. The same mouth that had said go upstairs was now set in a polite, bored line.

Good morning,I said, my voice steady enough to fool anyone but him.

The man beside him smiled faintly. You must be Miss Gabrielle. I’m Barrister Keane. I came to check on you because Me Damon noticed you were packing your bags last night.

I took a seat. Yes, I was.

He cleared his throat. Are you aware that the contract starts that you two must leave together during the course of your marriage?

I shrugged. I don’t know. Maybe because I was drunk out of my mind when I signed? What do you think?

Damon’s fingers drummed once against the table. Watch your tone,he said quietly.

I turned to him. Why? You’ve made it clear I’m just here to play a part.”

Barrister Keane shifted uncomfortably in his chair. Perhaps we should-

No,Damon cut in, his voice cold. She can speak.

I faced the lawyer again. If the contract says I have to stay, I’ll stay. But next time he decides to humiliate me in front of another woman, I’d appreciate a warning.

Keane froze.
