CHAPTER THIRTY–THREE

GABRIELLE’S POV

Damon didn’t come home last night and I wasn’t even a bit surprised he didn’t bother calling to tell me.

But tonight, he had to come home to get some files for his meetings. The earlier he finished his business, the earlier we could leave New York.

I stood by the balcony waiting for Damon to come home.

Fiorella had long gone to bed and I opened a fresh bottle of wine after we had shared one. A man in his late twenties, Karl, was sitting on my bed, shirtless and staring at me.

“You look beautiful in that robe just sitting there like a bored housewife,” he said, a smile on his face.

It was refreshing to see him smile. Damon never smiled. He smirked, teased, and taunted me but he never fully smiles.

“You have a bored housewife fantasy?” I asked.

He stood up and walked closer, the moonlight casting a shadow over his frame. He had his charms and was incredibly sexy but I could only get turned on for Damon.

Something had to be wrong with me.

“Bored housewives are my specialty,” he said. “You know how many young and sexy women are married to old rich men in this city? Who do you think satisfies them?”

“Men like you,” I answered.

“Men like me.”

We stared at each other in silence until I heard the honk of the car driving into the parking lot.

I stood up. “Then you should satisfy this bored housewife.”

I took off my robe, exposing myself in a pink thong and pink bra. It was the same design I was wearing the day Damon ate me out in his car. I told the salesperson I wanted that exact set when I went shopping earlier.

Karl took one look at me from head to toe and there was already a bulge in his pants. “Now, this is the genre of bored housewives I like.”

I placed my hand on his chest and pushed him onto the bed. Just as I was straddling him, the bedroom door pushed open and my

husband walked in.

Damon froze in the doorway.

For a second, I thought time stopped. His eyes swept over me, the man on the bed, and the robe tossed carelessly to the floor.

Karl looked like he had seen a ghost.

The air was so heavy and thick enough to choke on but inside, I silently hoped my plan worked.

Karl sat up instantly, tugging his shirt from the edge of the bed, his earlier cockiness evaporating. “Mr Gravari. I–I didn’t know she was-”

Damon grabbed my arm, yanking me off the man on the bed. The suddenness of it knocked the breath out of me.

He grabbed Karl by the head and landed a hit on his nose. Fresh blood splattered on the sheets.

Then he turned to me, still holding a screaming Karl. “This was the reaction you were expecting, right?”

CHAPTER THIRTY–THREE

My throat had run dry.

I had expected him to get possessive and take it out on me in bed. Not break the guy’s nose.

But the worst part was the fact that it turned me on. Damon was turning me into someone I couldn’t understand anymore.

“Let him go,” I managed to find my voice. “It was my doing.”

He stared at me for a few seconds then let Karl go. “Get out.”

Karl didn’t need to be told twice.

He brushed past Damon without putting on his shirt and left the door open behind him as he ran out.

It was just the two of us now.

“You’re entertaining guests in my bedroom now?”

His voice was cold.

“I did what I had to do,” I answered, trying to regain my composure.

He took a step closer and I took one back. “That’s Karl from the strip club. He has slept with more than half of the residents of this city. Including married women. But you must have known that to bring him here. Why?”

I raised my chin. “You wouldn’t touch me. You didn’t want to take my virginity so I had to give it to someone else who wanted to. And you interrupted me.”

“I interrupted you?” He took a step closer. “Because it looks like you were about to fuck him.”

I stood my ground. “I was about to make you jealous.”

That stopped him.

He tilted his head slightly, his eyes narrowing. “You think that’s what it takes to get my attention?”

Manipulating him had clearly backfired. I should have asked Fiorella for pointers but it was too late.
