The kiss was deep, slow, and unapologetic.

It was the kind that felt like it had been waiting all night to happen. He tasted like dark wine, and every part of me responded before my mind could catch up.

When he pulled away, he was still close enough for me to feel his breath on my face. He stared at me, then kissed me again before pulling away.

I sat back in my seat. I don’t want you to stop.

His brows furrowed. After everything you just heard about me?

I didn’t make any sense to me either.

I nodded, panting. Yes. Even after everything I’ve heard about you I still want this.

He turned, adjusting his suit. Like I said, you have no idea what you’re saying.

The car fell into a tense silence.

It was more obvious by the second that he didn’t want me but the way he kissed me made me rethink. I remembered him between my legs, and how he looked at me when I came under his touch.

I turned to him again and he was on his phone now. Damon, why are you stalling? You’ve had sex with your other wives before me so I know you’re experienced. Do I repulse you so much?

He didn’t look up. You don’t repulse me.

Then make me understand why you won’t touch me,I said.

He finally looked at me. What do you mean I don’t touch you? I just did now. I did in the back of my limo.

Yes, but that was it,I cut in. I asked you to take my virginity and you’ve still not done so. So tell me why you’re stalling.

He hesitated briefly. I was hoping you’d change your mind after coming here. You met my exwives and you met my grandmother. My aunt didn’t even come up to welcome me.

I frowned. What does that have to do with us?

He stared at me for a long moment before sighing. Everything. I’m not the kind of man you should have your first time with. I hear women have sentimental value for the man they lose it to,he finished, his voice dropping lower. And I don’t want to be that man for you.

I blinked, unsure I heard him right. Why not?

His jaw tightened. Because I’m not gentle. Because when I want something, I take it. Because I ruin things I touch, Gabrielle. I’m sure my exwives must have filled you in.

I don’t care about sentiments,I snapped. I know you can’t give me more and I’ve accepted it. You’re only stalling because you don’t find me desirable!

He leaned back, looking away as if the sight of me made it harder to keep his resolve. You deserve something better than being broken by me.

The car screeched to a halt and the driver knocked on the partition.

He exhaled. I guess that’s the end of this conversation.

He stepped out and opened the door for me.

I hesitated, the cool night air hitting my face as I stepped out, my heart still hammering from the intensity in the car.

Gabriellehe said, low, almost a growl.

I turned to him, meeting his gaze. Yes?

His eyes softened slightly, but the tension in his jaw didn’t case. You don’t repulse me. I’m trying to protect you from me.

I lifted my chin, defiant. I don’t need your protection. Just your dick.

A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. You need my protection more than you know.

He studied me like he was weighing a dangerous choice, and I could feel electric and undeniable the pull between us.

Then, without warning, he closed the distance, his hand sliding around my waist, pulling me flush against him. My breath caught as he leaned down, his lips brushing mine, soft at first, then demanding and hard.

When he finally let me, my thighs were already damp. 1

“I might never get to do that again,he said softly. Go inside.

I turned and a gasp escaped me. This isn’t the hotel.

No, it’s a mansion,he said from behind me. One of my properties in the area.

Then I heard the car door shut. When I turned around he was in the car already.

He rolled the window down. Go in. I’ll see you later.

Then the limo pulled out of the driveway.

When I stepped into the house, I saw a familiar figure in the living room.

It was Fiorella.

She was lounging on the sofa, her legs crossed, and a glass of red wine dangling from one hand. The dim light from the chandelier caught the golden highlights in her hair, making her look even better than usual.

Her eyes lifted as I entered, a slow and knowing smile spreading across her face.

Well, wellGabrielle, she purred, setting the glass down on the side table with a soft clink. Look who Damon finally decided to bring here.

I froze for a moment, my pulse quickening. Fiorella had always had this way of making a room feel smaller, as if all attention had been magnetically drawn to her.

“What are you doing here?I asked cautiously, stepping closer.
