Accidentally Pregnant By My Alpha Best friends (Madeline) novel Chapter 658

Madeline:

"You know, Ron," I said, taking a deep breath, "they're celebrating."

I noticed Ron sigh sadly.

"After everything they've done to us, they're celebrating." I clenched my teeth harder this time.

"That's expected of them," Ron muttered under his breath. "But what are they celebrating?" He scoffed. "Getting their asses beaten by you and the monster?"

He was right.

If anything, they had lost the war.

But they were celebrating something far deeper.

"Ron, even though they lost, we suffered the greatest losses." I smiled through teary eyes. "Your mate is dead. Mine too."

I took a deep breath and quickly wiped the tear from my cheek with the back of my hand.

"I've planned something amazing for the event, though." I smiled and watched Ron's face lose color.

"You're planning to go there in your wolf form?" he asked, immediately assuming the worst.

"Ron," I replied, shaking my head slightly, "I possess far more intelligence than physical strength."

I clicked my tongue, feeling pleased with myself.

"Elgin is going to have so much fun," I muttered under my breath. "He'll be sorry he ever participated in a public event."

"You seem to know a lot for someone who's been cut off from the world," Ron remarked, confusion and curiosity flickering across his face.

Earlier, I had snuck out to look around and go for a run.

The crazy part?

The monster sat in the tree, watching me leave without making a sound.

It was almost as if he wasn't the predator who had killed my husband and the others.

That was also when I learned about everything happening around us and came up with something juicy for the grand event.

After a brief silence, I realized I needed to check on Ron as well.

"How are you feeling?" I asked out of courtesy.

Otherwise, I knew his sorrow and grief wouldn't ease so easily.

"Barely alive. Every heartbeat makes me miss her," he murmured, tears gathering in his eyes.

"I haven't forgotten about Yuvonne," I told him.

He nodded, a broken smile tugging at his lips.

He appreciated me bringing her up. I knew that much.

"We need to find out who shot Yuvonne," I said.

Taking a deep breath, I looked at him again.

"I'm about to tell you some things that are going to be hard to hear."

My voice came out strained.

It felt as though my wolf's awakening had instincts that had lain dormant for a long time.
