Silver:
“Imagine living your life believing you're raising your own daughters, only to discover you've been deceived by the people you trusted most. That is what happened to my son. She fed him lies, manipulated him into marrying her, and forced him to raise children who were never his. Then that ungrateful bitch continued cheating on him with other men.”
Lady Greta had been speaking for the past fifteen minutes, calling me every name imaginable while I stood on the stage to her right beside my father like a convicted criminal.
I could hear people chanting insults at me.
Someone even threw a shoe, but my father intercepted it before it could hit me.
Tears streamed down my face.
I will never forget this humiliation.
I looked up at the people shouting insults and raising their middle fingers at me.
I promised myself they would be the ones crying in the end.
Graham stood to his mother's left, the biggest mama's boy I had ever seen.
"And before any of you ask how an alpha failed to realize he was being cheated on, it's because I raised my son to be a man who never questioned a woman's dignity. That is why every woman who came into his life tried to take advantage of him. In some ways, I blame myself for the man he became, so gentle and kind toward women."
I rolled my eyes at her words. Did she even hear herself?
Her son was a bastard, a prick.
Of course, everyone nodded along. They had already heard the news that he was going to become the next Alpha King.
"Well, today marks the end of my son's suffering. He will no longer be deceived. He will finally be free from the lies this woman has spread about him."
His mother went on to address the rumors, recounting everything that had happened between him and Madeline and somehow tying it all back to me.
She claimed every incident had stemmed from my lie about catching him in the room with Graham while he was harassing Madeline.
Right before my eyes, his image was being completely whitewashed.
I clenched my fists, then took a deep breath.
"If you've said enough, I would like to speak now."
At last, my father stepped forward. The crowd turned their attention to him.
"What could you possibly say about your daughter that would make anyone feel sorry for her?" a woman shouted from the crowd.
I looked at her, and she met my gaze as if daring me to respond.
"All I can tell you is that the woman you're screaming at and insulting isn't someone who will simply stand here and be humiliated. She's someone special."
As my father spoke, the crowd fell silent.
"Yeah, a special whore," Kaylee called.
The moment the words left her mouth, laughter erupted through the crowd.
People threw whatever they could find onto the stage.
