People had gathered from everywhere to see Sawyer, the new man who was a Lycan and claimed he could help those who were suffering.

I had a lot going through my head.

There was a letter in my hand that I needed to read, but before I could open it, the warriors arrived, explaining that they needed to prepare everything for the gathering.

Still, I couldn't take my eyes off the letter.

"So, are we going to read it now?" Ron asked as he entered my living room.

"People are gathering outside," Byron noted.

Yuvonne and Nala stood with them while I remained seated on the couch.

"Let me open this first," I murmured, taking a deep heavy breath as I slowly unfolded the letter.

My frown deepened as I read the little information it contained.

"It's an alliance letter," I announced. "The humans want to form an alliance. They want to visit us and discuss some matters."

I showed them the letter. There wasn't much written in it. It had simply been sent by the secretary, Nina.

"If I remember correctly, Nina was also the children's nanny. The one President Sawyer married, I think." Ron snapped his fingers, probably recalling something Madeline had shared with them.

"Yeah, that was her name. Nina," Yuvonne confirmed. "So she's still his secretary?"

"Oh, Lord. What might she have done to Madeline if Madeline really is alive in the human world?" Yuvonne placed both hands over her chest and exhaled, clearly considering the possibility that Nina might be vindictive toward Madeline.

If she could steal her man, her husband, who knew what else she might want to take from her?

"Anyway, the entire audience is outside, and I heard Sawyer is also being brought here, although he's not in chains or anything. Lady Eugenia made sure to request that he be treated with respect, which could be so dangerous," Nala complained, folding her arms across her chest and shaking her head in disbelief.

"What exactly is your mother's problem? Does she not understand that Sawyer is the man who was your brother's rival?" Ron hissed, referring to Baxter.

Little did they know that she wouldn't care about that. She only cared about the fact that Sawyer was Madeline's ex-husband from the human world and that he was a powerful man she could use for her own benefit.

"Let's go outside," I suggested as I got up, dusting off my black gown.

However, we hadn't even turned toward the door when a loud noise reached us. The powerful flapping of wings filled the air, making it clear that something was happening outside.

We all rushed toward the window, and there he was.

I felt like I would choke on my tears because what the others were calling a monster was my father, hovering in the air.

He seemed to have some meat clutched in his claws.

It didn't make sense. Why was he in the woods? He never came this far. This place used to be nothing but woods before a pack was built around it, but even then, he wasn't supposed to be here.

None of it made any sense.
