Accidentally Pregnant By My Alpha Best friends (Madeline) novel Chapter 822

Madeline:

Her question was bizarre, but also frightening because how could an ordinary woman living in the human world know about a gray wolf?

Usually, even werewolves consider it a myth.

That was until I transitioned and they realized that, yeah, it really did exist.

So how could some random woman ask me that question the first time she met me?

"Who are you?" I asked her immediately.

"Wait, Mother, why would you ask that question?" Livia intervened, pointing at me as she placed a hand on her mother's shoulder.

Her mother turned to her daughter, took her hand off her shoulder, and held it between both of hers.

"Answer me. Is your wolf gray?" the woman asked me again, still holding her daughter's hand as tears started to fall from her eyes.

"No," I replied confidently.

"Don't lie to me. Tell me," she insisted, looking down and closing her eyes.

I didn't know why, but seeing her cry made me feel strange, like I didn't want to see her cry like that.

But why was she asking me such personal questions? That was beyond me.

"Answer me," she insisted again.

My heart pounded so hard it felt like it might burst out of my chest.

I sucked in another sharp breath and uttered, "What do you know about the gray wolf?"

As soon as I asked that question, Livia's eyes narrowed at me.

"Do you have a gray wolf?"

This time, the question came from Livia, and there was much more pressure behind it.

The two women were acting strangely.

Now they were watching me like they had me cornered.

Then it hit me.

What if they already had information about me and were trying to use it to blackmail me into keeping quiet and not questioning them about the monster on the mountain top?

But why would they do that? What was their connection to the monster?

All these thoughts were running through my mind when the woman placed her hand on Livia's head and uttered, "My daughter has a gray wolf too."

The minute she said that, I sucked in another sharp breath.

My eyes moved to Livia, who, just a few hours ago, had been so concerned about keeping the truth about her wolf from me.

Yet now, she looked rather emotional.

Livia quickly covered her face with her hands and started to cry.

It just didn't make any sense.
