Madeline:
My mother watched his face with utmost respect and admiration because he was the one suggesting it himself.
I was still slightly worried about him.
I mean, his wolf could be really dangerous, and I wasn’t sure how his wolf felt about his mother.
“But do you think she’s the type of woman who would willingly take the herbs? She won’t,” Yuvonne hissed, grinding her teeth and folding her arms across her chest as she remembered how that woman had practically compelled her to make stupid decisions.
Then, when she no longer wanted to play her game, Lady Eugenia decided she was better off dead.
“They said that when she asks, we’re not supposed to lie. I can tell her something that isn’t a lie but isn’t the full truth either.”
Knowing Baxter, of course I expected that from him.
Everybody looked so proud of him.
Then he pointed at me.
“And as for what you said, your fear that she’ll gain power, I have a solution for that as well,” he said, his smirk widening.
“Do you have a solution for that as well?” Livia asked excitedly.
Her question sounded very innocent.
I mean, everyone was really impressed with Baxter at that moment, but Daniel’s reaction made me think.
The moment Livia spoke directly to Baxter, Daniel lifted his head and stared at her before looking at Baxter.
There was a hint of jealousy on his face.
It felt a little strange to me. He knew she was my sister, so why did it bother him so much that she was talking to my husband?
And that also proved Baxter was right.
Daniel did have feelings for her.
“Didn’t you guys tell me that it was Lady Eugenia’s idea that she fed into Sawyer’s mind, that within a week they could find a solution to all the problems in the werewolf land?” Baxter asked dramatically, leaning back farther and showing just how confident he was.
Everyone’s eyes were on him, and I couldn’t help noticing how broad his shoulders were and how sexy he looked sitting in that chair.
If I could, I’d kick everyone out right now, sit in his lap, and do him right here.
Even the thought made me chuckle to myself.
I guess he noticed because his eyes flickered for a brief second, then squeezed shut as if he were remembering something before he looked back at everyone.
“Yeah, that is what they’re doing. Sawyer claims that he’ll kill the monster and the sickness will go away, which we now know is exactly what will happen once the monster dies and the curse ends,” Ron explained, agreeing with Baxter.
“Well then, who’s going to tell Sawyer which monster he’s killing?” Baxter asked very calmly, his voice deep, sexy, yet somehow creepy.
For a second, nobody moved.
Everybody was happy, but there were still a few more things we needed to take care of.
What were we going to do with Sawyer afterward?
Sawyer would definitely kill Baxter’s mother, but afterward, he would become the Alpha King. So we still had to figure out what to do about him.
However, Ron and Yuvonne were going to stay the night, and Baxter’s wolf could wake up at any moment.
It would only be for brief periods, but we were going to use those moments to our advantage.
Later, Baxter would have another excuse to take the medicine so the werewolves wouldn’t smell the wolf scent on him.
I walked into Baxter’s bedroom, sighing as I looked through the drawer, when I heard approaching footsteps.
Kaylee had finally made her way back home.
Baxter had sent her out, telling her to buy whatever she wanted.
And well, the minute I turned around, I was shocked to see that she had been to a salon.
I mean, we didn’t mind. We wanted her to spend some time outside.
She had dyed her hair pink and curled it until it reached her jawline.
She was wearing a nude dress, high heels, and carrying a branded purse, while behind her, the warriors carried all the expensive things she had bought.
