I had a wonderful day.

Early that morning, Baxter had left the bedroom.

It was a little upsetting because he had slept on the couch, but it was fine.

Very soon, we would be sharing a bed again.

Later that afternoon, when he returned, he gave me his card and told me to get myself whatever I wanted.

“Alright, now get out of here because this is mine and Baxter’s bedroom,” I said as I walked over and sat on the bed, watching her roll her eyes before silently leaving the room.

That felt a little strange to me.

Madeline wasn’t the type to leave so quietly.

Maybe Baxter had already dealt her such a huge defeat by bringing me into his bedroom that she didn’t have the courage to argue with me anymore.
