Accidentally Pregnant By My Alpha Best friends (Madeline) novel Chapter 894

Baxter:

“Try this too. It’s really good,” I told him, holding out a sandwich.

“But this pizza is delicious,” I added, grabbing another slice.

We had stolen quite a lot of food.

Sometimes, people at the hospital even called us thieves.

The two of us were always sneaking off with something from somewhere.

I honestly didn’t know how I would have survived those few months without Sawyer.

He had changed everything for me.

At first, I had fallen into a deep depression. But thanks to Sawyer, I had started laughing again and even enjoying parts of my treatment.

“Hey, listen. I remembered something my parents said,” Sawyer began, holding a can of Diet Coke and taking a sip.

“They said a ferry leaves on Saturday nights. It brings humans over from there, but only the ones whose wolves have not woken up are allowed to come, and they have to be at least eighteen.”

That gave us a real chance to escape.

“Great. Then we escape Saturday night, get on that ferry, and cross over. Simple,” I said.

Sawyer gave me a thumbs-up.

“That’s exactly what I wanted to tell you. The problem is, how do we get out of here?”

I tapped a finger against my chin, thinking.

“I mean, my last test is on Friday, so by then my wolf should be under control.” I smiled.

“Yeah, and on Sunday they’re going to put my wolf completely to sleep,” Sawyer replied. “So we have to get out this Saturday. You know that if my wolf is put to sleep, I’ll never be able to live properly in Werewolf Land.”

He was right.

If that happened, escaping there together would become almost impossible.

I could still go, but Sawyer would no longer be compatible with life in Werewolf Land.

Our plan was for me to sneak him out of here and take him with me. Once we got there, I would tell my father everything, and Sawyer could stay with us.

The humans would have no idea where he had gone.

That was the plan our little minds had come up with.

And honestly, once Sawyer reached Werewolf Land and people discovered that he had a wolf, they would never let him return to the human world anyway.

Even the humans probably wouldn’t want him back. They would be relieved that the werewolves had taken the “monster” off their hands.

We sat there for a long time after that, quietly working through every part of our plan.

For the next two days, we stayed on high alert.

On Friday, they gave me my last dose, so that night was kind of bad for me. I pretty much slept through it.

The next morning, we were already planning everything because we had to leave that night. Otherwise, Sawyer would get his treatment shot.

By nighttime, when the night staff changed shifts, Sawyer and I were already dressed.

We had noticed that the nurse at the end of our corridor checked the rooms every twenty minutes.

The orderly who carried the laundry carts always left the service door open while dragging the bins through.

The cameras near the kitchen weren’t still either. They rotated every few seconds.

Sawyer and I stood behind the cell door.

A nurse passed, so we waited.

Her footsteps faded around the corner.

Sawyer slipped his hand through the gap and worked the piece of metal we had stolen from the kitchen into the lock. A few seconds later, the lock clicked open.

He slowly pulled the door open, and we stepped into the corridor barefoot, carrying our shoes in our hands.

My heart was pounding. I could only imagine how hard his was thumping too.

This was our only chance to escape.

We stuck close to the walls.

At the first corner, Sawyer stopped me with a hand against my chest.

An orderly pushed a cart across the next hallway.

We waited until he disappeared through a set of double doors.

Sawyer reached the service stairs first. We slipped inside, and he pulled the door shut without letting it click.

For three floors, neither of us spoke. We were so tense that it felt like even one loud breath could get us caught.

Once we reached the ground floor, we both put on our shoes.

We quickly rushed past the kitchen, the same one we had stolen from countless times over the last few months.

Sawyer suddenly grabbed the back of my shirt and pulled me behind a stack of supply crates as two staff members walked past us.

For a second, neither of us moved.

Then Sawyer squeezed my arm and gave me a smile.

“Go,” he whispered.

I rushed out from behind the chairs.

My shoes struck the polished floor harder than I wanted them to.

I crossed the lobby before anyone could properly turn toward me, shoved through the main doors, and ran across the driveway.

The iron gate was still open.

I slipped through it.

For the first time in months, there were no hospital walls around me.

I stopped for half a second and looked back.

Through the glass doors, I could still see Sawyer crouched behind the chairs, watching me.

He pointed sharply toward the side of the building.

The back door.

He was signaling that he would head there next.

I turned and started running along the outside wall.

All I had to do was get around the building, open the door, and wait for him.

Then we would be gone.

I rounded the corner too quickly and slammed straight into someone.

The impact knocked the breath out of me.

Hands caught my shoulders before I could fall.

I immediately jerked back, thinking someone had caught me. For one panicked second, I considered running back inside.

Then I looked up.

My entire body went still.

My mother stood in front of me, my father beside her, both wearing huge grins.

They had come to take me home.
