Adopted to Biological? Keep Your Golden Child Scapegoat Out novel Chapter 77

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Next morning, Dante came to with his skull pounding and something soft breathing against his chest.

Eyes shot open. Sienna was tangled up in his sheets. Completely naked. Dead asleep.

Bed looked like a war zone. Whole room reeked of sex and that sickly-sweet perfume she always wore.

His mind was blank. Last thing he remembered-that damn soup she’d brought him.

Didn’t even register his comm buzzing like crazy on the nightstand. Screen lit up like a Christmas tree.

“Mr. Corsaro, you in there? Answer me!”

Before his brain could catch up, the door beeped. Emergency override code.

His lieutenant. Voice tight with panic.

Door slammed open. Protocol-they could do that if they thought he was compromised.

Three of his guys piled in behind the lieutenant. All of them froze when they saw what was in the bed.

Sienna woke up fast. Saw the audience. Let out this little gasp and grabbed the sheet, covering herself. Pressed up against Dante’s back like she

was some scared rabbit.

But her eyes? There was a flash of something else. Victory.

Ice water hit Dante’s veins. Couldn’t breathe.

Then the Boss stepped through the doorway.

He scanned the room. His face went from surprised to stone-cold disappointed in about two seconds.

“Your comm went haywire. Emergency signal. We’ve been trying to reach you for six hours straight. Figured you were bleeding out somewhere.”

Voice stayed quiet. That made it worse. “Guess you were just getting your dick wet instead.”

Dante’s mouth opened. Nothing came out.

“Family doesn’t get involved in who you sleep with.” The Boss didn’t wait for excuses. His eyes were ice.

“But you made your bed. Literally. Vesper asked me to watch out for this girl before she disappeared. So congratulations-Sienna’s officially your problem now. She reports to you. You’re responsible for her. Every. Single. Thing.”

Dante felt like someone had shoved his head underwater. Wanted to explain. Wanted to say he didn’t remember any of this.

But when he locked eyes with the Boss-the man who’d built this family from blood and bullets-every word turned to ash in his mouth.

The crew standing around looked like they didn’t know whether to laugh or clear out.

Lana jumped in fast, wearing this huge shit eating grin.

“Hey, this is cause for celebration! Why wait? Let’s do this proper-family style. Get these two hitched by the weekend!”

Chapter 7

Dante’s eyes closed. Long exhale. When they opened again, nothing left but defeat.

Next day, they strong-armed him down to the makeshift chapel in the east wing. Stuffed him into a rental tux that pulled at the shoulders.

Sienna stood across from him in white lace, doing her best virgin bride impression.

Whole thing felt like drowning in slow motion.

Lana played priest.

“Dante Corsaro. You taking Sienna Graves as your wife? Gonna protect her, stay faithful, through whatever hell comes, till one of you’s in the ground?”

Dante looked at Sienna in that dress. But all he saw was Vesper.

The two images bled together.

Sienna’s phony innocence twisted his gut. He gagged before he could stop himself.

Her smile cracked like porcelain.

Behind all that tulle, her fingernails bit into his forearm hard enough to bruise. Voice barely a whisper. “Don’t you dare. Everyone’s watching.”

Dante wanted to run. But he looked around-all those faces he’d known for years, the Boss sitting up front with that blank expression-and realized he was boxed in.

His throat felt like broken glass. Pushed the words out anyway.

“…Yeah. I do.”

Reception was a blur of forced toasts. He kept pouring whiskey down his throat but couldn’t kill the sick feeling crawling up from his stomach.

Hit the bathroom three times. Retched until there was nothing left.

Past midnight, somebody dragged him back toward the bridal suite. He stopped outside when he heard voices leaking through the door.

Sienna. And Lana.

“Lana, seriously-you’re a lifesaver. If you hadn’t arranged everything, I never would’ve landed him!”
