Adopted to Biological? Keep Your Golden Child Scapegoat Out novel Chapter 76

Chapter 6

Watching Dante crumble, Sienna had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from grinning.

That bitch was finally out of the picture.

Now this man-the Boss’s right hand, the guy destined to run the whole damn organization-he was all hers.

Once she locked down that ring, every asshole who’d ever treated her like trash would be licking her boots.

But the victory high crashed fast.

Losing Vesper didn’t make Dante turn to her. It broke him.

He went from razor-sharp to barely functional. Started making mistakes.

Routine hit went sideways when he zoned out mid-job. Target got a shot off before dying. Nearly took Dante’s head off.

The Boss pulled him off rotation. Told him not to come back until he got his shit together.

That’s when the bottles started showing up.

Top-shelf liquor everywhere. Living room looked like a liquor store exploded. Whole place smelled like a dive bar on Sunday morning.

He stopped shaving. Stopped changing clothes. Let Sienna’s home-cooked meals go cold on the counter while he drank himself blind.

One night he puked all over the floor. Right in front of her.

Sienna swallowed the bile in her throat and cleaned it up-held her breath, scrubbed on her hands and knees, played the perfect little

housewife.

Figured he’d notice. Show some gratitude.

But he barely registered she existed.

When he passed out drunk, sprawled on the couch like roadkill, he’d mumble the same shit every time.

“Vesper… baby, come back… I’m sorry…”

Every syllable felt like a slap.

She’d sacrificed everything. Hurt herself to set Vesper up. Played her role flawlessly.

And she was still coming in second to a woman who wasn’t even here.

Rage ate at her like battery acid.

She made some calls. Had her contacts plant a story-somebody claimed they’d seen Vesper’s corpse dumped in some third world hellhole. Even got hold of a destroyed leather wallet that could’ve been hers.

When Dante saw that wallet, he completely shattered.

Locked himself in the apartment for seven straight days. Wouldn’t open the door. Wouldn’t take calls.

Chapter 6

Sienna knew the moment had come.

She made a special pot of soup. Called it a hangover cure. Crushed up something that would make him compliant. Suggestible.

She walked into that dark, booze-reeking room and found him collapsed on the couch. Looked half dead already.

Something cold and vicious stirred in her chest.

After tonight, he wouldn’t have a choice. Guy like him-old-school, honor-bound-he’d have to marry her once they slept together.

Get the body first. The heart would come later.
