Flora’s eyes widened, as if she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
She reached out and took Charles’s hand, quickly noticing the unnatural expression on his face. Alarm bells went off in her head.
“Okay. We’ll think of something else.”

Aria watched them leave, her expression complicated.
Why was Charles suddenly so agreeable? It was like he was a different person.
She carefully examined the property deed again and sent a photo to her lawyer friend to have her confirm its authenticity.
It was real.
Aria was deeply suspicious.
What was wrong with Charles?
But with the deed in her hands, Aria wasn’t going to let the opportunity slip by. She decided to transfer the ownership immediately, just to be on the safe side.
Just as Aria was changing her clothes, Gideon returned.
“Where are you going?”
Aria glanced at the time. “Do you need something?”
“I heard Charles was here earlier.” Gideon walked up to Aria and looked her over. “What did he say to you?”
So that was it. He was worried she’d get back together with Charles.
Aria couldn’t help but find it laughable.
What made Gideon think she would ever reconcile with Charles?
“That’s none of your business.” Aria could smell the faint scent of disinfectant on him and knew he’d come from the hospital where Lilith was. Her tone was mocking. “You should hurry back to the ward. Otherwise, you’ll be getting another frantic call soon.”
To transfer the house, she also needed to update her personal records, which was a hassle.
