The nurse moved quickly, inserting an IV into Aria's arm and immediately starting a drip of hemostatic and pain-relieving medication.
Half an hour later, the pain in Aria's body finally began to subside a little.
But she knew the bleeding hadn't stopped. Her body heat was still steadily draining away.
Aria refused to just lie there and wait. She had to save herself.
"Could you... get me a set of acupuncture needles?"
Raphael was texting on his phone, but he looked up and nodded when he heard her.
"Are you going to perform acupuncture on yourself? I've already contacted the blood bank. I can get a unit of red blood cells for you."
Aria's lips twisted into a self-mocking smile. "He'd just end up giving it to Lilith anyway. If I don't save myself, who will?"
"If you really want to help me, can you please not tell Gideon that I already had an abortion?"
"You want Gideon to think he's the one who caused your miscarriage?"
Aria nodded.
It was the only way she could think of to get back at Gideon, assuming he still had a conscience.
Raphael was silent for a moment. "Alright."
The acupuncture needles arrived at the room shortly after.
Aria worked fast, inserting the needles into her own acupressure points.
"I also need some thrombin."
After taking the medication and performing the acupuncture, the bleeding quickly lessened.
At the same time, the deep furrows in Raphael's brow relaxed slightly. He said, "I've made the arrangements. The blood is ready. We can do the surgery today."
Aria was taken aback, surprised that Raphael was even more anxious for the surgery than she was.
"What's wrong? You don't want the surgery? I've already rescheduled this evening's engagement. With Dr. Reaves here, you have nothing to worry about. The most important thing right now is your health."
"I just didn't expect this from you."
Raphael pressed his lips together, his gaze complicated. But instead of explaining, he made the choice for her.
