After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 231

"How could it not be medicine?!" Flora's eyes widened.

How could Aria have known about their plan?

No one could have guessed this was a gamble with a life on the line!

"Officer, I suspect she has other drugs on her! She's just trying to use this to clear her name!"

"She must be searched!"

The cracking sound of Flora's frantic voice was grating to Charles's ears.

But she and Lilith had been the closest; perhaps she just couldn't accept Lilith's death.

Gideon stared at Aria, then his gaze shifted to Raphael.

"Aria, what is your relationship with him?"

Why was Raphael always there to save Aria in the nick of time? It was the same last time, as if they were the married couple!

Gideon couldn't help but clench his fists.

Aria leaned back in her chair, her expression calm. "That's my private business. It has nothing to do with you."

"Private business?" A humorless laugh escaped Gideon's throat. "We are husband and wife! You're carrying on with Raphael, and now you're telling me it's a private matter?"

"Do I have to wait until I catch the two of you in the act...?"

"Gideon," Raphael cut in, his voice level. "That's enough."

"What? Too scared to admit what you've done?" Gideon sneered. "Or are you, Aria, just waiting to divorce me so you can become the next Mrs. Evernight?!"

Otherwise, why was it always Raphael helping Aria?

Meanwhile, he couldn't even get a single message from her.

"Are you wondering why I asked Raphael for help, instead of turning to you?"

Aria knew Gideon all too well.

She quickly understood his underlying accusation.

Raphael stood in front of Aria and said:

"I have already contacted a lawyer. Until a formal search warrant is issued, no one can search Aria."

Aria looked at the tall figure shielding her, and a wave of warmth washed over her.

He was the only person, so far, who had completely trusted her.

Being called out by Aria in public, Gideon felt humiliated and clenched his jaw in frustration.

"Then tell me, why did you come here to see Lilith? The doctor already said her condition had stabilized. Why did something happen to her the moment you arrived?"

"She had already been resuscitated once before I got here. By 'stabilized,' do you just mean she was alive?"

The crash cart had a record of the emergency from an hour ago. That was hard evidence, which had nothing to do with the "stability" Gideon was talking about.

"Alright, we will uncover the truth."

After a brief discussion, the officers proceeded to test the liquid in the bottle.
