While waiting for Alden's reply, she went to her team's group chat to tally up everyone's contributions.
Splitting the money based on the work they put in seemed the fairest way to do it.
[Alden: Give them some credit, kid. You really think they're that naive? They did a full background check on you before letting you into a top-secret national project. I gave you up a long time ago.]
[Alden: But the organization respects your wishes. They won't publicize your identity, so don't worry.]
Aria smiled faintly. That old man, always teasing her.
But it made sense. A top-secret national project would demand extreme caution. How could they let an unknown figure like Dawn join the experiment so easily?
[Aria: Okay, that's a relief!]
With that settled, Aria felt much lighter. She finished her oatmeal in one go and was about to clear the table.
But Raphael was faster.
"I'll get it. You go rest. Will you be eating lunch?"
Lunch...
Was Raphael planning on cooking all her meals for her?
Aria felt a little awkward. "You just got back to the country. Shouldn't you be busy?"
"Even busy people have to eat," Raphael smiled. "Or do you not like my cooking?"
Aria blinked and answered honestly, "Your cooking is delicious. I love it."
But she remembered when she and Gideon were first building their business, they were often too busy to eat, and Gideon was a picky eater.
That's when she started learning to cook for the two of them.
After they got married, Gideon was always too busy to come home for lunch.
She was worried about Raphael's health.
"I can just order takeout, you know."
"I'm not used to ordering takeout. I always cook for myself anyway, so making a little extra is no trouble."
