How could Lilith not be in the late stage? Was it possible that every single doctor was wrong, and only Aria had figured it out? And this screaming and cursing like a madwoman… was she insane?
Gideon’s face darkened. He carried Aria to the bathroom, dumped her in the tub, and turned the cold water on her. “Sober yet? You think you’re some kind of miracle doctor after a few months as an intern? You’re obsessed with money—that’s why you abandoned medicine for business. Lilith is a kind girl who’s willing to give up her life for you, yet you refuse to save her. As for marital rape,” Gideon sneered, gripping Aria’s chin, “if Lilith didn’t need the umbilical cord blood, I wouldn’t touch you even if you were naked. Do you really see yourself as some kind of saint, playing the virtuous martyr while everyone else suffers? Are you even worthy?”
Aria felt no sting from his humiliation. She didn’t care anymore. She submerged herself in the cold water, and the feverish heat in her body finally began to subside.
The phone rang. It was Charles. He had sent Lilith’s medical files to Charles; if there was a problem, Charles would definitely spot it.
Gideon answered. The other end of the line was chaotic.
“Gideon! Lilith tried to kill herself! Get over here, now!”
Gideon’s breath caught in his throat. Without a second thought for Aria, he grabbed his keys and rushed out.
Ten minutes later, outside the emergency room.
“Why did she try to kill herself?” Gideon asked, having hurried over.
Flora was crying. “Lilith didn’t want to force Aria to have a baby, so…”
Gideon’s eyes turned icy. “Who was the one who said Aria was unwilling to have the baby?”
Roxanne also rushed over, her steps unsteady. “Lilith… How is my Lilith now?!”
Charles quickly steadied her. “Lilith is still in the emergency room…”
“Did Aria say something to Lilith? I told you not to let Aria see her!”
