After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 308

Roxanne couldn't believe Gideon was being so ruthless.

Aria let out a breath. Gideon had finally grown a spine. If he had agreed to drop the issue, getting the money back would have been incredibly difficult. Even if he hadn't backed her, she could have gone to Raphael or Aldous, but it would have been messy.

"Pay up. Right now," Aria demanded, turning to Roxanne. "I've changed my mind. You have three hours to return the money, or you can deal with the consequences."

Even if it meant forcing the Rowan and Brent families to liquidate their assets, Aria was getting that money today.

"Three hours?!" Roxanne shot to her feet. "Are you insane, Aria? That's millions of dollars!"

"You demanded that money with a simple flick of your tongue. Why can't I do the same?"

Roxanne looked like she had swallowed a bug. She had used half the money to plug the holes in the Brent family's finances. There was no way she was coughing it up out of her own pocket. Her eyes darted around frantically before she pulled out her phone.

"Charles, Aria changed her mind. She wants the money in three hours... How am I supposed to get that kind of cash? What do I do?"

On the other end, Charles frowned but offered reassurance. "Don't worry, Roxanne. I'm liquidating some assets right now. I'll transfer the money to you shortly."

He had just taken control of the Brent Group and uncovered several shell companies draining their funds—obviously Harold's doing. Harold had been bleeding the company dry and even had his mistresses on the payroll. By selling off those useless divisions at a loss and combining the cash with his personal savings, Charles wired everything to Roxanne.

Seeing the notification, Roxanne's face lit up in triumph. She immediately wired the millions directly to Aldous's account. "It's sent! Now drop the lawsuit!"
