After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 312

Ivy scoffed. "The Wynn family is already in ruins, and you're still thinking about the past? Dad, what kind of pipe dream are you living in?"

The person on the other end tried to say more, but Ivy hung up first.

It was the same old arguments on repeat. She was sick of hearing it.

Evercrest Prosperity Holdings.

Aria pushed open the doors. The receptionist looked surprised and quickly said, "Aria, what are you doing here? Mr. Evernight hasn't been in the office the last couple of days..."

Aria was dressed in sharp business attire, making the receptionist feel for a second as if she still worked there.

But how could that be?

Her drama with Gideon had been trending all over social media. Why would Aria willingly come to work here?

Aria recognized the receptionist and offered a warm smile. "I'm not here to see him. I'm here to cover his shift."

"Huh?" The receptionist looked bewildered. "Cover for Mr. Evernight?"

Aria nodded.

"Aria, what are you doing here?"

Henry was just about to head upstairs when he spotted Aria in the lobby. He furrowed his brow. "Are you here to clean up the mess you left behind?"

"Mess?"

When she resigned, she had properly handed over all her tasks. How could there be a mess?

Henry grew more confident as he thought about it, crossing his arms. "Weren't you in charge of Graham Adler's contract? It's about to expire, and the production department hasn't even started manufacturing. Isn't that because you failed to submit the approval process?"

Aria laughed.

Henry pressed on. "Think about how you're going to fix this!"

"You're fired."

Henry scrambled to open his work email on his phone. There it was—an email from Gideon.

Sent yesterday afternoon. He hadn't bothered checking his work messages because he knew Gideon was in the hospital and assumed he wouldn't be in the office for a few days.

He had slacked off.

Aria nodded in understanding and added, "Since I'm taking your place, do I need to report my actions to you or get your approval?"

Gideon said, "No, I trust you."

Aria ended the call and looked at Henry, a faint smirk playing on her lips. "Neglect of duty. You failed to meet the company's expectations first, so there will be no severance."

"Now, pack your things and leave the building immediately."

After delivering the verdict, Aria used the front desk phone to notify HR and the finance department.

"Also, regarding the issue with Graham's contract, that is your responsibility. I'm having the finance department draft a detailed assessment of the damages. If you have any objections, you can discuss them with the lawyers."
