Aria knew what the doctor was getting at—he was concerned she might be pregnant and couldn’t have a CT scan.
“My uterus was damaged. I can’t get pregnant. You don’t need to worry, Doctor.”
“When was your last period?”
Aria froze.
Her last period?
Her cycle had been regular for years, but things had been so hectic lately that she had completely forgotten about it.
Doing a quick mental calculation, she realized it had been a month and a half.
Aria’s expression changed.
Her fingers flew to her wrist, and her face grew paler by the second.
The doctor looked displeased. “If you are pregnant and you get a CT scan, the risk to the fetus is significant! If something happens, who will be responsible?”
“Yes, you’re right.”
Seeing Aria’s face drain of color, the doctor also reached out to take her vitals.
“Your symptoms are quite clear. You’re pregnant. But your body is very weak. I’m afraid you might not be able to…”
The doctor trailed off, sighed, and pulled his hand back.
“You should go see a gynecologist. I’ll transfer your file.”
Aria’s mind was a mess.
How could she be pregnant?
After the experiment failed, her uterus had indeed been damaged. It was only through her own study of alternative medicine and self-treatment over the years that her cycle had stabilized.
Besides, she and Gideon hadn’t been intimate in years, except for that one time he forced himself on her…
How could it have happened from just one time?
Aria knew her body wasn’t lying, but she went to the gynecology department clinging to a sliver of hope.
“Ms. Rowan, you’re pregnant. About six weeks along.”
The doctor confirmed it.
Aria felt as if the world went silent, and tears streamed down her face.
She was really pregnant!
