After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 69

The sound of police sirens was deafening.

Especially late at night, as the car drove straight up and parked in front of the Evernight family’s mansion.

Gideon was just about to go to bed when there was a knock on his door.

The maid said, “Sir, the police are here.”

Aria heard the noise too and quickly opened her door. “I’m the one who called them!”

Her eyes were red and swollen, clear signs she had been crying.

The female officer who had taken her call rushed over to check on her. “Are you hurt anywhere? Do you remember the robber’s face?”

Aria nodded. “I remember!”

“That’s good.”

“Aria, you called the police?” Gideon emerged, wearing a silk pajama set. “Filing a false report is illegal.”

The officer was confused. “Was someone else in the house robbed too?”

Robbed?

Gideon’s brow furrowed even deeper.

This woman was insane.

“She wasn’t robbed. We just had a small disagreement,” Gideon explained. “She’s exaggerating.”

The officer frowned, disapproving of his words. “What is your relationship to the person who filed the report?”

They looked like a picture-perfect couple, handsome and beautiful.

Her gaze fell on the corners of Aria’s eyes.

She had been crying so hard, yet her husband showed no sympathy and even accused her of exaggerating.

What kind of man was he?

The officer felt a flicker of contempt.

“Just now, three women forced their way into my room, held me down on the bed, and, despite my clear refusal, stole my phone.”

Aria looked at the officer. “Does that count as robbery?”

“Yes, it does!” the officer said, her gaze firm. “Even if they only stole a penny, it’s still robbery. You are not exaggerating.”

Gideon’s expression remained calm.

The officer was excited. She gave her partner a meaningful look. “Take them all away!”

“We received a report that the victim’s phone was stolen by a group of domestic dispute involving multiple parties. We’ll sort everything out at the station!”

“Don’t you touch me!”

Seeing an officer approach her, Eveline grabbed a nearby cup and threw it.

“What right do you have to arrest me?!”

She finally understood.

That little bitch Aria actually dared to call the police?

How dare she?

The officer narrowed her eyes. “Assaulting an officer?”

“You’re the ones who got it wrong! I didn’t steal Aria’s phone. That phone belongs to my son anyway!”

Aria watched her, curious to hear what other nonsense Eveline could possibly spew.

“Aria has always worked at my son’s company. Isn’t her money my son’s money? It’s a phone bought with my son’s money, so what’s wrong with me taking a look?”
