After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 75

"Can you stop being so unreasonable?" Gideon said. "I only see Lilith as a sister. It's not the sordid affair you're imagining."

He didn't have to explain any of this to Aria.

But now that the topic was broached, Gideon felt a surge of displeasure.

In the end, Aria was just too dramatic. She couldn't see the bigger picture.

"Lilith was cheated out of her youth, and now she’s fighting for her life. It's only right that I take care of her. You, on the other hand, just can't stand to see her doing well."

Aria rolled her eyes and stopped talking.

There was no point in wasting her breath on Gideon.

But to Gideon, her silence seemed like an admission of guilt.

His tone grew harsher. "Don't you have any gratitude for Lilith? If she hadn't been the one to suffer, you'd be the one lying in that hospital bed, fighting for your life."

Aria couldn't help but laugh.

Gratitude?

For Lilith?

Was her own life so wonderful right now?

A woman who couldn't even protect her own child was supposed to thank fate for its kindness?

What Gideon really meant was: Aria should have been the one with the terminal illness!

It was laughable.

"Is that your attitude?" Gideon frowned. "When did you become so cold-hearted?"

Aria ignored him.

The car drove on, and the cabin fell into a heavy silence.

Gideon's phone suddenly rang.

Aria didn't even need to look to guess who was calling at this hour.

Lilith.
