After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 87

Aria opened her mouth to refuse, but he had already hung up.

Perhaps because she was pregnant, the old man didn’t call that night to rush her back.

Aria returned to her apartment.

She took a quick shower and then put a bottle of water in the freezer, using it to soothe her face.

The red mark on her cheek finally started to fade.

She slept until morning.

Hazel’s research team had been suspended, so Aria currently had no work.

But she had to go to the police station today.

Flora had bullied her. Back then, she hadn’t wanted to cause trouble. Now, she was going to get justice.

She went to the nearest police station.

Aria briefly explained her purpose and handed her videos over to the officer.

Flora had posted more than one video of her bullying.

The officer counted them. There were over twenty videos in total.

This meant Aria had been bullied more than twenty times.

Aria’s body trembled slightly. “Is this enough evidence?”

“Ms. Rowan, these videos are quite old, and the quality is poor. Even if we submit them, they probably won’t be considered primary evidence.”

Aria couldn’t believe it.

“Once you meet the perpetrator, you’ll definitely recognize her! Her voice is exactly the same as the one in the videos!”

The officer looked troubled. “That’s not direct evidence. We can’t base a case on a subjective judgment like that.”

Aria took a few deep breaths to calm herself.

“I understand. I’ll submit new evidence.”

——

After leaving the police station, Aria received a call from a former member of Hazel’s team.

They had just gotten to work when they were notified by Alden Reaves that Hazel’s research was to be suspended.

“Aria, you had the professor suspend the project. What are we supposed to do now?”

——

Aria then drove nonstop to the family estate.

This was her first time back at the Evernight ancestral home.

It could hardly be called an ancestral home; it was more like a luxurious, understated manor.

The seat of a family with a century of history.

Since it was her first time here, the staff didn't even recognize her and wouldn't let her in.

“I knew you’d be here.” Gideon drove up, pulling his car alongside hers. He rolled down the window and spoke again. “The old man told us to move in. What trick are you playing now? How did you manage to persuade him?”

Gideon hated being manipulated and schemed against, and Aria was crossing his lines again and again.

“You can ask Grandpa about that.”

Aria followed Gideon, and they drove their cars into the underground garage together.

In the living room of the main house.

Eveline was drinking tea. Seeing Gideon return, she quickly stood up to greet him.
