Stephanie’s face turned serious, but she didn’t scold Sophia directly. Instead, she spoke to Jennifer. “Jennifer, it’s clear Sophia hasn’t learned proper manners or etiquette. Just listen to her. Look at how she acts. That’s not the way a real lady behaves.”

“A true lady keeps her manners, even if she doesn’t like someone. She’s always graceful, always composed. You never see her feelings written all over her face. Sophia still has a lot to learn.”

“She might get away with it at home because we spoil her, but the world won’t be so forgiving. If you don’t start correcting her now, she’ll be the one to face the consequences.”

Jennifer’s cheeks burned with embarrassment from being called out in front of everyone. She shot Sophia a warning glare, then quickly apologized. “You’re right, Mom. It’s my fault. I haven’t taught Sophia well enough.”

“Tomorrow, I’ll send her to etiquette school. She’s not coming back until she learns how to behave.”

Jennifer’s sister-in-law ran a well-known etiquette academy, teaching girls how to fit in with high society. Everyone knew the girls who graduated from there walked out with a whole new aura. The training wasn’t easy, which was why most truly wealthy families never sent their daughters there. They preferred to teach them at home, surrounded by family.

Stephanie wasn’t like the other women in the family who led comfortable, sheltered lives. Back in her day, she built the Adams Group alongside Ethan’s grandfather. She was a legend in the business world. Even now, with her gentle smile and soft voice, everyone who knew her real strength still respected her. She only seemed kind now because age had softened her.

Stephanie looked straight at Jennifer, pulling her back from her thoughts. “Jennifer, did you hear what I said? When Ethan brings Isabella home for dinner, I don’t want to see you giving Isabella any attitude.”

“Ethan told me he was the one in the wrong. That means we’re the ones who need to make amends. So let’s keep our pride in check.”
