“Jennifer, you haven’t given Isabella her allowance yet, have you? Remember, she’s still owed the last two months too. Make sure you pay her back,” Stephanie said, her voice calm but leaving no room for argument.
Jennifer forced a smile. “I know, Mom.” She looked at Isabella, trying to keep her tone light. “Isabella, send me your bank account number later. I’ll set it up so you get the money on the first of every month.”
Inside, Jennifer was fuming, but with Stephanie insisting, she couldn’t do anything except agree.
“Alright,” Isabella replied, her surprise hard to hide. She hadn’t expected to end up with more than three million just by being dragged home for dinner. Ethan still owed her a million, and now Jennifer had to pay her two point four million for three months’ worth of allowance.
Stephanie really was the only one in the Adams family who ever showed her any warmth. In Isabella’s past life, she’d been too caught up in fighting with Natalie to appreciate it. She’d never made an effort to get close to Stephanie, and her actions must have let the old woman down. When Isabella died, she hadn’t even seen Stephanie one last time.
“Thank you, Grandma,” Isabella said, her smile genuine. She made a mental note to spend more time with Stephanie whenever she could.
“Is everyone here? Let’s eat,” Stephanie announced, pushing back her chair. Isabella quickly stood to help her up.
Stephanie glanced at her, eyes full of affection, and gave Isabella’s hand a gentle pat.
The moment didn’t go unnoticed. Most of the family just accepted it—Stephanie had always been the only one who supported Ethan marrying Isabella. But Jennifer and Sophia were both quietly seething, especially Sophia, who felt like Isabella had stolen the grandmotherly love that should have been hers.
During dinner, Stephanie had Ethan and Isabella sit on either side of her and kept telling Ethan to serve Isabella more food.
“Now that you and Ethan are married, Mia’s too proud to get between you two,” Stephanie said with a wave of her hand. “I’ve watched her grow up. I know what she’s like.”
“The real problem isn’t Ms. Clark. It’s Jennifer. So, Isabella, you turned down the two hundred million?”
Stephanie turned with a teasing smile. “Honestly, two hundred million is a bit cheap. Ethan’s a great earner. If anyone ever tries to pay you to leave him again, you should hold out for more. At least ten billion.”
“Grandma!” Ethan protested, his face going pale.
Isabella burst out laughing. “Grandma, I was definitely tempted by the two hundred million. But Jennifer wasn’t going to pay up front. I was worried she’d change her mind, and I’d just have to watch all that money slip away.”

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
