Natalie was clearly on the losing side, so Ethan stepped up and gently grabbed Isabella’s arm. “Let’s talk outside,” he said quietly.
He didn’t bother asking if she agreed. He just led her out the door.
The second they were outside, Isabella yanked her arm away. “What is it? Can’t stand seeing Natalie getting called out?” Her voice was sharp. “Listen, Ethan, I’m not dropping this. Natalie can either give back my wedding gift or meet me in court.”
“Isabella.” Ethan sounded exasperated, almost pleading. “Can you just trust me one more time? Let me deal with it. Give me a month. I promise I’ll handle everything and give you a proper answer. There’s no need to push so hard today. Natalie isn’t feeling well.”
Isabella’s eyes were cold. “And how would you handle it? Are you going to make Natalie give it back? That’ll just put you in a worse spot. Let me be the ‘bad guy’ here. You should actually be grateful I’m the one doing this.”
Ethan had nothing to say.
Isabella pulled out her phone and started calling Jordan.
Ethan watched her. “Natalie already said Jordan’s on a business trip. He’s probably on a plane right now. Why are you calling him? You—”
“Isabella, what’s going on?” Jordan’s voice suddenly came through the phone, cutting Ethan off.
“Jordan, where are you? Natalie’s sick. She’s got a fever, a headache, she can barely stand. And you’re just not here for her?” Isabella’s words spilled out, full of accusation.
Jordan sounded panicked. “Natalie’s sick? How did that happen? She was fine when I left this morning. She just said she hadn’t slept well and wanted to rest. Isabella, are you at the house now? Please call a doctor for her. I’m at the office, I’ll come home right away.”
He didn’t even wait for Isabella’s reply before hanging up. No doubt he was already running for the door.
Ethan just stood there, stunned. He realized he’d been lied to.
Isabella slipped her phone back into her pocket, a little smile on her lips. “You know, Ethan, you’re not stupid, but whenever it comes to Natalie, you just can’t think straight. Do you know why? Because you love her. You love her so much you can’t see clearly. You believe everything she says, forgive everything she does, and you can’t even bring yourself to blame her for anything.”
“So tell me, how are you ever supposed to let go of a love like that? Saying you’re moving on is just lying to yourself.”
“Isabella, did you go to the Lane house to ask for your wedding gift?” Stephanie got straight to the point.
“I did.”
“Did you get it back?” Stephanie sounded worried.
Isabella laughed quietly. “Grandma, do you really think Natalie would just give it up?”
“You should’ve told her Ethan sent you to get it.”
“Grandma, Ethan and I came together. I asked for it right in front of him.”
“Oh,” Stephanie said. Then she asked, “So how did Ethan react?”

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
