After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 415

“He’s always going to stand by Natalie. Our marriage is just a few months old, but he’s known her his whole life. They grew up together, nearly thirty years side by side.”

“He asked me for a month to deal with it. But Grandma, if I actually give him that month, all he’ll do is come up with some fancy wedding gift to make it up to me. What’s the point? That doesn’t change anything.”

“Grandma, he’s never going to love me. Please don’t get your hopes up. I’ve already stopped hoping for that. He loves Natalie. He always has, and he always will.”

Stephanie took a deep breath, her voice softening. “Isabella, you’re such a good girl. Ethan doesn’t deserve you.”

“If he can’t let Natalie go, then you should go through with the divorce. I’ll help you. And if, one day, Ethan regrets this, would you be willing to give him another chance, just for my sake?”

Isabella shook her head. “Grandma, I’m not waiting around for him. I don’t need to. Whether he regrets it or not, that’s his problem. I know I won’t regret my decision.”

Stephanie let out another sigh. “You two just weren’t meant to be, I guess. I understand. If he ever regrets it, he’ll have to face the consequences himself.”

“Grandma, Ethan threatened me once. He said if I ever brought up divorce again, he’d ruin me, leave me with nothing. If we do end up getting divorced, and he tries to retaliate, I hope you’ll be there for me.”

“My career is finally taking off. I can’t let him destroy everything I’ve worked for.” Even if the startup money did come from him.

“Don’t worry. I won’t let him hurt you,” Stephanie said, her tone fierce. “I might be old, but I can still keep Ethan in check.”

“You focus on your own life. Women need to be financially independent, not relying on a man for everything. Even if you’re not making a fortune, it’s important to earn your own money. You shouldn’t have to ask anyone for what you need.”
