“I still have no idea what kind of spell Isabella put on him to make him marry her, even when everyone was against it.”
Natalie’s eyes darted away for a second. She hadn’t told Jordan that Ethan married Isabella all because of her. She was scared that if Jordan found out, that little thorn of jealousy would just keep digging deeper, until it started to poison their marriage too.
“We were all fooled by Isabella. We thought she was sweet and harmless, maybe even a little pathetic, but it was all just a front. The moment she got together with Ethan and had him backing her, she started showing her real face. Now she doesn’t care about us at all. She barely comes home to the Lane house.”
“The Lane family raised her, you know. You’d think she’d be grateful. Instead, she’s asking for her wedding gifts back, even though she already took so much.”
Natalie’s tone turned sharp. “Your family really did raise an ungrateful snake. I don’t know why your dad never asked her to pay him back. He keeps saying Cynthia raised you too, but wasn’t it always his money? How could he act like Cynthia did anything special? She married your dad, looked after you, that’s just what a wife is supposed to do.”
She looked straight at Jordan. “Jordan, you should tell your dad that if Cynthia wants a divorce, fine, but she doesn’t get a cent. He needs to take back all the properties and shops he gave her these past couple years. That stuff is worth a fortune. Those shops are on the busiest streets, the rent is at least six or seven thousand a month, sometimes even over ten thousand if it’s a good spot.”
“She only brought Isabella with her when she married in. Isabella’s her only real asset. Everything else belongs to the Lanes. Your dad made her sign a prenup, right? Even if she walks away with nothing, she can’t do anything about it. Let’s see how she lives then.”
