After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 464

Isabella knew Ethan would never believe Natalie was jealous of her. Deep down, she suspected Jordan and Natalie were the ones who’d killed her in a past life, but she had nothing to back it up. And without proof, she couldn’t just throw out accusations. If she did, Natalie could easily turn it around and sue her for slander.

If something like a kidnapping ever happened again, she’d need real evidence to bring to the police. That’s why, the moment she woke up, her first question was whether they’d caught the kidnappers. Were they after Ethan, or was someone else pulling the strings? The answer mattered to her—it was tied to the truth about her past life.

“Ethan, you should go home and get some rest. I don’t need you to look after me,” Isabella said, closing her eyes. She kept her voice steady. “About the divorce, I hope you’ll think it through. What happened last night scared me. It only happened because of you.”

Ethan watched her, but she wouldn’t meet his gaze. She just lay there, eyes closed, keeping her distance. Did something he said upset her again?

“Isabella, I wasn’t taking Natalie’s side, I just—”

“Ethan, stop. There’s nothing left for us to discuss, except the divorce.”

She turned her head away. Ethan stood there, silent. After a long pause, he finally spoke, his voice soft. “If you want a divorce, then once you’re better and out of the hospital, we’ll go file the paperwork. There’s a waiting period, so it’ll be about a month before it’s official.”

She was so disappointed in him. Even after what they’d been through together, after nearly dying side by side, she still wanted out. She kept insisting her dream was more like a memory, that it all happened in another life. Ethan didn’t believe in that kind of thing. He only knew that this was the life he had, and he needed to appreciate it. Even if there was a next life, who knew if he’d even meet these same people again?

At his words, Isabella finally turned back to look at him. Her eyes fluttered open. “Are you serious?”
