“They planned last night’s kidnapping knowing I could fight, so they brought a dozen guys, hoping numbers would be enough. The idea was to grab me, then hit up my family for a few billion to spend.” Ethan’s life really was worth that much.
If the kidnapping had actually worked, the Adams family would’ve paid the ransom. Of course, they’d also be working with the cops, trying to catch the kidnappers during the handoff.
Harold shook his head. “We still need to look into this. And from now on, you should take bodyguards when you go out. The Adams family has plenty, don’t they?” He paused, then added, “Isabella needs protection too. After what she did last night, those guys might want revenge.”
Bruce had a name on the streets, and plenty of guys who’d do anything for him. Isabella made him look bad last night, and who knew if his men would try to get payback.
Ethan shot Harold a cold look. “She’s my wife. I’ll take care of her.”
Harold caught the edge in his voice and shut up. Lately, Ethan seemed to be putting distance between himself and both Harold and Jesse, especially Harold. Did Ethan know how he felt about Isabella? Not that he’d ever done anything about it. He always kept his distance, never reached out, barely even saw her.
Jesse glanced between them and quickly changed the subject. “How’s Isabella doing?”
“She’s alright. The doctor says she’ll need to stay for a week, then she can go home,” Ethan said. After snapping at Harold, he realized he’d sounded harsh, and his face softened a little. “Honestly, she was amazing. Even when everything went crazy, she remembered to put on her seatbelt. After she crashed into the kidnappers’ car, the belt kept her from getting badly hurt.”
Jesse nodded. “Laura’s here too. She won’t leave anytime soon. You can relax—she’ll take care of Isabella. Get some sleep. You look terrible. Your lips are white.”
Ethan rubbed his hands over his face, trying to wake himself up, then let out a shaky breath. “Last night was hell,” he said quietly. “She got hurt and I’ve been sitting here for more than twelve hours. I’m so tired, but I was too scared to sleep. I couldn’t eat, I just waited for her to wake up so I could finally stop worrying.”
He hesitated, then his voice dropped even lower. “But then… she asked me for a divorce.”
The words just hung there. Harold and Jesse looked at each other. Neither of them knew what to say.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
