This woman was just plain poisonous. She did it on purpose, cursing Natalie with that smug look.
Deborah wasn’t about to back down. “And who do you think you are, Natalie? Let me tell you, once I marry Jackson, I’ll be your mother-in-law.”
“So, even if you don’t call me Mom, you should at least show some respect. I’m older than you. And you just slapped me across the face. What kind of parents raised you?”
“You call yourself a lady? Please. You’ve got zero class. Honestly, your husband must be blind to have married someone as fake as you.”
“At least I had a son. You? You finally got pregnant, and what happened? The baby wasn’t developing right and you lost it. Honestly, that’s karma. You’re so awful, it came back to your kid and wouldn’t even let it be born.”
Natalie was shaking with anger, her face so pale except for the bright red cheek where she’d been slapped. She pointed at Deborah, wanting to yell back, but she was so furious nothing came out.
Deborah scoffed. “Why are you pointing at me? Didn’t your mother ever teach you that it’s rude?”
She marched right up and smacked Natalie’s hand away.
“Natalie, listen up. Once I move in, this house still belongs to Jackson. He’s in charge, and I’ll be the lady of the house. It’s not your place to boss anyone around or point fingers at me. I can’t stand people pointing at me.”
Deborah reached up and touched the cheek Natalie had hit. “Don’t think I’m scared of you like Cynthia was. Anyone who tries to mess with me will regret it.”
Natalie finally found her voice and shouted, “Jackson and Cynthia aren’t even divorced yet! You have no shame. You’re a homewrecker. Disgusting!”
Deborah shot her a look. “And you’re any better? This might be my first time here, but I know all about your family drama.”
“You’re always looking for more, never satisfied. When you saw Jackson and Cynthia starting to patch things up, you just had to stir the pot, didn’t you? Don’t act like you’re innocent.”
Deborah walked over to the sofa and picked up her purse. It looked a lot like Natalie’s, and just one glance told Natalie it was probably even more expensive.
“Natalie, just wait. We’ll see who comes out on top.”
Deborah slung her purse over her arm and walked out with her chin held high.
Natalie was so mad, she threw her own bag onto the sofa as hard as she could.
Jackson treated that woman so well. The bag he bought her cost more than Natalie’s, and the car she drove was even fancier.
Cynthia had been with the Lane Family for twenty years, and even the nicest car she’d ever gotten was worth maybe a million. Deborah, though, was driving around in a Ferrari that cost over four million.
