Cynthia walked in, with Zachary following right behind her.
“Mom, Uncle,” Ethan said, getting up to greet them.
Cynthia’s eyes went straight to Isabella. Seeing her asleep, she asked softly, “Has Isabella had anything to eat? How’s her appetite?”
“She ate already. She seemed to be in good spirits and finished almost everything I brought,” Ethan replied, pulling over chairs for Cynthia and Zachary.
Cynthia let out a quiet sigh of relief. She stepped over, carefully tucked the blanket around Isabella, and gently brushed her cheek, making sure not to wake her.
“Zachary, you can head home if you want. I’ll stay here with Isabella,” she said.
Zachary looked at Isabella for a moment. “I’ll wait a little longer. She still looks pretty pale.”
Ethan jumped in quickly. “She’s been through a lot. It’s normal for her to look this way. Once she’s out of the hospital, we’ll get her back on her feet.”
Something seemed to cross his mind. He grabbed his phone and dialed Mike. As soon as Mike picked up, Ethan said, “Mike, could you get some supplements ready for Isabella? Bring them over tomorrow.”
“Of course,” Mike answered, not needing any more explanation. He always just did what Ethan asked.
After the call, Ethan turned to Cynthia and said, “Mom, I’ve asked the butler to have some supplements delivered tomorrow. Once Isabella’s out, I’ll make sure she gets what she needs.”
Cynthia nodded, not saying anything else.
Earlier, when Ethan had gone home to rest, Cynthia had taken the chance to ask Isabella if she was really sure about the divorce. Isabella hadn’t hesitated. She was just as determined as when she’d wanted to leave Jackson.
Since Isabella was set on the divorce and Ethan had agreed to go through with it after she recovered, Cynthia no longer saw Ethan as her son-in-law.
Trying to break the awkward silence, Ethan offered, “Mom, Uncle, do you want some fruit? I can wash some for you.”
Even though he hadn’t been kidnapped, he couldn’t help but feel more on edge than before. He didn’t dare let his guard down.
Isabella slept soundly. Ethan couldn’t resist and snuck a few kisses, but she didn’t stir at all.
The hospital was almost completely silent at night. Drowsy, Ethan lay down on the family bed, turning so he could watch Isabella for a little while. He drifted off to sleep with her in his sights.
The moment he fell asleep, the dreams came.
They weren’t good ones. In his dream, it felt like his soul left his body and he was flying fast through a long tunnel. He couldn’t tell how long he’d been soaring before something heavy dragged him downward, sending him falling.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
He answered, and a strange voice came through the line. “Is this Ethan? I’m calling from the police station. We found a woman’s body in the suburbs that looks a lot like your wife. We need you to come identify her.”

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
