Ethan frowned, already thinking this was some kind of scam. He pulled the phone away from his ear and checked the screen. The number really was unfamiliar.
His face turned cold. "You probably have the wrong number. I don’t have a wife anymore. We’re divorced. I’ve been single for a few days now."
After the divorce, Isabella had moved out right away.
In a burst of anger, he’d taken back everything he’d given her, including the little villa and the car.
She walked away with nothing.
But still, it wasn’t like she’d just die. She could always find a job, support herself. Before she married him, she’d been working odd jobs and getting by on a few thousand a month. That was enough to live on.
The voice on the line said, "Mr. Adams, we didn’t dial wrong. The body’s face was slashed, but we can still tell it’s your wife."
"We also found her phone at the scene. There was no password, so we checked her contacts and saw your number."
Ethan paused, then said, "Fine. I’ll send someone to check it out. I don’t have time for this."
"That’s fine."
After hanging up, Ethan called his secretary and told her to go to the address the police gave and see what was going on.
He was still sure the cops had made a mistake. There was no way Isabella was dead. She was always causing drama, always stirring things up. She’d had a million close calls but somehow always survived.
People like her just never seemed to go away. Isabella was the type to keep causing trouble for years. Dead? No way.
The secretary got the call. She also doubted it could really be Mrs. Adams—or rather, the former Mrs. Adams.
They’d divorced just days ago.
It wasn’t public yet, but everyone close to Mr. Adams already knew.
To everyone at the Adams Group, Mrs. Adams was way too much. She’d show up at the office and create a scene over nothing. She had a mean streak, too, and always picked on Natalie.
"Officer, I’m Mr. Adams’s secretary. He sent me to check things out."
The officer looked at her. "You know Mrs. Adams? Will you be able to recognize her?"
"I know her better than anyone. Even if she was nothing but ashes, I’d recognize her."
Isabella had shown up at the company almost every day. Everyone at Adams Group knew her.
Honestly, when Isabella wasn’t causing drama, she was easy to get along with, never acted stuck up around the staff.
A lot of people said she just wanted Ethan’s attention. They thought her jealousy over how he treated Natalie made her act out.
If Ethan had just been a bit nicer, if he kept his distance from Natalie, Isabella probably would’ve calmed down.
But Ethan and Natalie had grown up together. Decades of friendship. There was no way Isabella could compete with that.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
