After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 546

Natalie rushed upstairs, her clothes a mess, cheeks burning with embarrassment. There was no way she could face Jackson like this.

While she was changing, Deborah wasted no time. She played the victim, twisting the story to make herself look innocent.

Jackson, already irritated, snapped at the housekeeper before sending her out. He was annoyed with Natalie, but he wasn’t about to make a big deal of it. As long as she respected him, he didn’t care what happened in the house. Since Natalie was in charge, the staff answered to her.

But now, seeing the servants all taking Natalie’s side against Deborah, Jackson’s annoyance was about to boil over.

“Jackson, look at me! Do you see what she did? My face is almost scratched up, and my clothes are ruined. I want new clothes. No, Natalie should buy them for me,” Deborah complained, her voice shrill.

Jackson glanced at her. Sure, she looked like a mess, but she wasn’t hurt. When he walked in, Deborah had clearly been winning that fight.

“How many times do I have to tell you, don’t move in until we’re married? Stop fighting with Natalie,” Jackson said, tapping her forehead and letting out a sigh. “I promised you, once Cynthia and I get the divorce papers, we’ll get married. You and Kevin will have a proper home.”

“But until then, you need to stop provoking Natalie. She’s my daughter-in-law. You’ll be her elder, so act like it.”

Deborah pouted, her lips trembling. “It’s not like I want to fight with her. She’s the one who can’t stand me. I’m not even her husband’s mistress, so why does she hate me so much?”

“She hates you because she can’t hate me to my face. That’s all it is,” Jackson replied quietly.

He still felt guilty about how things had gone for Kevin.

Deborah grinned, teasing him. “If we start now, by the time I’m pregnant, we’ll already be married.”

“You and Cynthia will get your divorce soon. Jackson, can’t I stay the night? Just this once?”

Jackson shook his head. “No. Kevin’s at home alone. I don’t feel right about that. Go back and take care of him. When I have the divorce papers, you can move in.”

He looked at her, his tone warning but gentle. “And for now, just behave. Stop coming here to stir things up with Natalie. If you really push her too far and she fights back, don’t come crying to me.”
