“Alright, stop whispering about it. There will be plenty of chances to deal with Isabella Lane.”
Jennifer couldn’t help but smile when she saw how annoyed Sophia looked. “For now, don’t bring your friends around Ethan. If you really push his buttons, he’ll never let you set foot in his house again.”
Sophia rolled her eyes. “Fine, I won’t take them to Ethan’s place. I can always catch Isabella somewhere else and handle her then.”
“Ethan’s still protective of Isabella, so don’t go after her just yet. If people hear you’re picking on her all the time, it’ll just ruin your reputation. It’s different for me. I could easily put her in her place, but since she and Ethan just got married, they’re still in that honeymoon phase. Ethan still cares about her, so all I can do is throw a few words her way for now.”
Sophia frowned. “But Mom, didn’t you say you’d send some people to teach Isabella etiquette? Just pick a couple of really strict ones. Make things hard for her.”
Jennifer let out a long sigh. “Ethan turned that down. He said he’d teach her himself and told me not to worry about it.”
“I told you, they’re in their honeymoon stage. If we go after her now, Ethan will only defend her and we’ll just end up frustrated. Be patient. Wait until the excitement wears off.”
Jennifer had spent years in the world of wealthy families, so she knew that dealing with Isabella Lane would be simple—if she picked the right moment.
Sophia just pouted and didn’t say another word.
Meanwhile, after Ethan hung up the call with Jennifer, he didn’t say anything to Isabella Lane. He sat on the couch, took a sip of water, checked his watch, and finally said, “Let’s go. I’ll take you home.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve done this before. I’ll talk things through with him. By the way, is everything okay at home?” Laura sounded worried. Isabella had left so suddenly, she wondered if something bad had happened.
“It’s nothing. My lucky charm just came home, so I had to rush back and take care of him.”
Ethan glanced over at her, still saying nothing. He did give her three hundred thousand a month as an allowance. Calling him her lucky charm wasn’t a lie.
“It’s not easy marrying into money. Take care of yourself,” Laura sighed.
Isabella Lane laughed. “I will. Just handle everything on your end. I’m heading back home now. Once I get there, I’ll log in to my online banking and send you the money.”
