After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 742

Jordan said, “Cynthia never stood a chance against her. She and my dad never had kids, but Deborah has a son.”

Kevin looked so much like his father that you couldn’t deny it, even if you wanted to. The first time Jordan met him, he knew Kevin would be trouble.

“Your uncle’s family is slipping again. Dad hasn’t worried about them in ages.”

Natalie let out a sigh. “Even though Cynthia never had children, if she hadn’t divorced your dad, Isabella would still have to come back home, and Ethan would still be your family’s son-in-law—at least on paper.”

“Your dad wouldn’t have dared to act out like this before. But just look at him now. He’s getting bolder by the day, acting like we don’t even exist. Deborah barely moved in before she started trying to take over the house. I’ve been in charge for so long. I can’t just hand it all over to her.”

Jordan hugged his wife, trying to comfort her. “Don’t worry, Natalie. You’ve got me. I won’t let them take what’s ours.”

“Go back inside and get some rest. I’m heading to work. If you don’t want to deal with them, go spend some time with your mom.”

Natalie nodded. “I was planning to go to my parents’ house anyway. You get to work. While your dad is still obsessed with that woman, you need to take control at the company.”

Jordan was already thinking the same thing, even if she hadn’t said it.

He left, and Natalie watched his car pull away.

Deborah nodded. “I get it. I’m not in a hurry to take over. Let’s wait until after the wedding. I still need to plan everything. It’s too hot right now anyway. Let’s choose a nice day in the fall, when it’s cooler and more comfortable.”

“A wedding… Deborah, we’re not exactly young anymore. Maybe we could skip the ceremony? Just invite a few close friends for dinner.”

Jackson hesitated. This was his third marriage, and he wasn’t excited about another wedding. He’d had one when he married Cynthia, after all.

Deborah laughed. “We’re not old at all. We’re still young at heart. After the wedding, we could even try for another baby. Didn’t you always want a daughter? I could give you a beautiful little girl.”
