After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 743

“We have to have a wedding. I mean it. I want to wear a wedding dress. You only get a moment like this once in your life, and I don’t want to miss out. Both of your previous wives had weddings. Now it’s finally my turn, so how could we skip it?”

“If you don’t throw a wedding, how is that fair to Kevin or me? It just wouldn’t feel right.”

Jackson hesitated, looking uneasy. “I’m just worried Jordan won’t like it.”

“He’s already upset, so why worry about it getting worse? Are you still afraid of him? He’s not your only child anymore. You used to do everything for him, but now you have Kevin too.”

“We have Kevin. You don’t need to worry about who’s going to take care of you when you’re older. So what are you afraid of?”

“Jackson, I’m not trying to turn you against your son, but Jordan isn’t as innocent as you think. And Natalie, she might look soft and harmless, but she’s the most dangerous one of all. I bet they both hate us right now. Who knows what they’re plotting? Maybe they’re even thinking about how to tear us apart, or worse.”

Jackson’s expression turned serious. “I’m his father. I’ve always treated him well. What could he actually do to me?”

“You never know. I just feel like the two of them are full of nasty ideas, and they won’t make things easy for us. If you don’t believe me, just wait and see.”

“When you’re at work, be careful with your coffee and tea. Don’t let your son make it for you. I’m worried he might put something in your cup. Coffee and tea are already bitter, so it’d be easy to hide the taste of poison.”

Jackson’s face tightened. “Deborah, you’re getting carried away. Jordan would never do something like that to me. We’re father and son.”

Deborah didn’t really want to invite Mandy, but then she remembered that Jordan and Natalie would be joining them for dinner too. Mandy wanted to get close to Jordan, so why not let her go head-to-head with Natalie? Deborah could just sit back and see what happened.

Thinking that, Deborah smiled. “I’ll call Mandy in a bit and ask her to come tonight. With you looking out for her, her parents can relax.”

Jackson said, “I’m only doing this for you. She is your sister, after all.”

Mandy reminded him of Deborah when she was young. Deborah now had a different kind of beauty, more mature and confident, but Jackson still missed the way she had been in her early twenties.
