After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 748

"Mr. Adams, please have a seat over there for a moment." Nana pointed to the sofa in the reception area, her tone polite but firm.

Isabella’s company wasn’t that big yet. The office space they rented was limited, so there wasn’t a separate VIP room. Visitors just waited on the couches in the reception area, surrounded by a couple of bookshelves packed with all kinds of books.

Ethan frowned, his voice low. "Who's in there? Is it Harold?"

Nana answered smoothly. "It’s just one of our clients."

"Don’t try to fool me. Harold’s car is parked right outside your building," Ethan shot back, his expression turning icy. "Move. I’m going in."

Nana stepped in front of him again. "Mr. Adams, please don’t make things difficult for me. Isabella made it clear, no one’s allowed in while she’s meeting clients, unless she says so." This was about the company’s future, and Nana wasn’t about to be intimidated.

Ethan glared at her, then brushed her aside and grabbed the door handle. He swung the door open and walked straight in.

"Mr. Adams, please!" Nana hurried after him, quick to explain as Isabella and her two clients looked up in surprise. "Isabella, I told Mr. Adams you were with clients, but he wouldn’t believe me and insisted on coming in."

Ethan glanced around. The only people inside were Isabella and two strangers—definitely clients, not Harold. There was no sign of his rival.

He backpedaled quickly, trying to save face. "Isabella, I just really wanted to see you. You’re busy, I get it. I’ll wait outside." He turned to the clients with an apologetic smile. "Please, go on. I won’t interrupt."

"Ethan, what are you doing here?" Harold wasn’t carrying flowers, just a clear document sleeve with a slim booklet inside. It looked about the size of a piece of printer paper, but Ethan couldn’t guess what it was. Maybe a contract? But The Carter Group didn’t have any deals with Isabella’s company.

"If you can be here, why can’t I? This is my wife’s company. I can come and go whenever I want."

Harold corrected him right away. "Ethan, Isabella’s last name is George now. She officially changed it. From now on, she’s Isabella George. I bet you didn’t know that, did you? Something that important, and she told me, not you."

Ethan felt a sting of jealousy, sharp and bitter. He knew Isabella had planned to change her name, but he hadn’t realized she’d already gotten her new ID. Now that Cynthia and Jackson were divorced, Isabella really wasn’t part of the Lane family anymore.
