Isabella leaned back and said, “Business is good these days. Since we’re turning a profit, we should stock up on gold and silver. Gold always holds its value, especially when things get shaky.”
She had plenty of jewelry from her wedding gifts, and Ethan had given her a fair share of gold, too. All of it was tucked away, her safety net, never to be touched casually.
The money she got from the divorce went straight into investments. She’d put eighty million into Frank’s new film. That didn’t leave her with a lot of spare cash, just enough to keep her company running smoothly. For now, she couldn’t afford to invest in anything new. She had to wait for her current projects to pay off. She’d backed a couple of Linda and Barbara’s ventures, and those were sure bets. Once the returns started rolling in, she’d be comfortable for a good while. By then, the short drama industry would be crowded beyond belief, and it would be the perfect time for her to step back and put her money elsewhere.
Honestly, everything felt tough these days. Business was hard. People kept saying this year was difficult, hoping next year would be better. But every year just seemed harder than the last.
Laura laughed. “You sound just like my mom. Whenever she has some extra cash, she buys gold. She’s got a whole stash by now.”
“She also says that when I get married, she’ll buy me more gold jewelry. I’m not even into wearing that stuff. I’d rather she just gave me the cash.”
Isabella smiled. “Even if you don’t wear it, you can keep it as an investment. Gold prices are always going up lately, and who knows how high they’ll climb. If you take the cash, you’ll spend it in no time. Money just doesn’t last these days.”
She remembered from her past life how, three years before she died, gold prices had gone through the roof. People who bought in when prices were low made an absolute killing.
Laura nodded. “I’d never say that to my mom, though. It’s the thought that counts, and I do appreciate it.”
As they chatted, the glass door swung open. Two rows of bodyguards in black suits lined up at the entrance, clearing a path like soldiers for their boss.
Everyone in the café looked over, including Isabella and Laura.
York strolled inside, looking completely at ease.
“My friend owns this place.”
York glanced at Laura again, then turned his attention back to Isabella. “You’re an owner too, right?”
“I have a small stake in it,” she replied.
“That makes you an owner. So, Isabella, can you recommend any of your best pastries? I’ve got a serious sweet tooth.”
York looked a little sheepish. “Most guys aren’t into sweets, but I can’t help myself.”

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
