After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 890

With Ethan stepping in and taking charge, everything shifted. Now it was a whole different story, and a lot harder to deal with.

All Lawer and Pansy could do was beg. They really had no other choice.

Ethan’s voice was cold as ice. “What I want is for Nadine to get the punishment she deserves. She’s not a little kid. She’s an adult. She needs to own up to what she’s done.”

He didn’t wait for a response. Instead, he turned and marched right out.

Lawer and Pansy hurried after him, but his bodyguards quickly stepped in, blocking their way and making it clear they weren’t getting any closer to Ethan.

Ethan was only here for Isabella. No matter how much Lawer pleaded, Ethan wouldn’t give in. Unless Isabella herself decided to forgive Nadine, there was nothing they could say to change his mind.

Dropping anyone else’s name wouldn’t help either.

Ethan left with his bodyguards, disappearing as quickly as he’d arrived. Lawer and Pansy were left behind, wide awake all night, worry eating at them.

He never told Isabella what he’d done for her. The next morning, he went back to work like nothing had happened, joining his regular meetings.

He’d already told Isabella that he’d be stuck in meetings all day, and with a business trip coming up tomorrow, he needed to tie up all the loose ends.

Isabella kept to her usual routine too. She went to the office, led a morning meeting, then headed out for a client appointment. After she’d finished her negotiations and sealed a deal, her phone rang. It was Nana.

“Isabella, Natalie’s here. She insists on seeing you, and she says she’s not leaving until she does.”

Isabella wasn’t surprised at all. She could have guessed, even without thinking, that Natalie was there to beg for Nadine.

“Let her wait,” Isabella said. “I’ll be back in about half an hour.”

Natalie glared at her, frowning. “What kind of assistant did Isabella hire? Don’t you know the customer is always right?”

“You’re not my customer.”

Natalie’s jaw tightened with anger. Isabella was tough, but her secretary might be even tougher.

If Natalie hadn’t been here to plead for Nadine, she might have slapped Nana right then and there. Lately, she’d come to hate secretaries. Deborah had been Jackson’s secretary. The woman Jordan cheated with was also his secretary.

After a long, tense moment, Natalie finally snapped, “Fine, just get me a glass of warm water with some glucose. I don’t like plain water.”

Nana didn’t argue. She turned and headed to the breakroom, poured a glass of warm water, and added two spoonfuls of glucose powder. The whole time, she couldn’t help grumbling to herself about how difficult Natalie was being.

Once she’d set the glass in front of Natalie, Nana walked away and got back to work.
