Two hours later
Isabella walked Harold to the door, her voice tinged with apology. “Harold, I’m really sorry you had to witness that. My mom just worries that my dad’s side of the family will never stop bothering me.”
She let out a tired sigh. “She actually hates them more than I do. I was just a kid back then and don’t remember most of what happened.”
Harold shook his head gently. “Isabella, I’m not judging you. Honestly, it hurts to know you and Cynthia had to go through so much. I just wish I hadn’t been a clueless kid back then. If I’d known what you were dealing with, I would have done something. I would have helped.”
He looked at her with quiet determination. “But this time, I promise, I’ll help you. I won’t let them mess with you again.”
She smiled softly, but her answer was firm. “Thank you, Harold, but it’s okay. I can handle it myself.”
He paused, then reached out, his hands resting gently on her shoulders. His eyes searched hers, earnest and full of hope. “Isabella, just let me have a chance to protect you, okay? Don’t think you owe me anything, because you don’t. I want to do this. I want to be there for you. You’re the woman I care about, and I want to keep you safe.”
He lowered his voice. “I could never even raise my voice at you. So why should anyone else get to hurt you? Even if you don’t accept my help, I’ll still find a way to look out for you.”
Isabella was quiet, her gaze steady on his face.
She could feel how much Harold truly cared for her.
She knew his feelings were genuine. He wasn’t just messing around or chasing after something new. He loved her, plain and simple.
Even back when she was still married to Ethan, every time she ran into Harold, he treated her with such kindness. Even though he was friends with Ethan, he always seemed to take her side.
“Harold,” Isabella murmured, his name soft on her lips as she reached up, tracing her fingers along his cheekbones and jaw.
He wasn’t the most stunning man in Cabinda, not like Ethan, but he was handsome in his own way. What mattered most was that his heart was all hers.
Harold didn’t move away. He let her touch his face, hoping for a kiss. He wanted one too. But he held back. She hadn’t said yes to him yet, so he wouldn’t push.
“Harold, thank you,” Isabella said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
