After the Affair Falling into a Billionaire's Arms novel Chapter 243

Chapter 243

Louisa clutched the financial reports tightly. Now she understood. Julian had kept her working late to tell her thishe had finally come to his senses. He had no intention of making her his mistress.

She had misunderstood him completely.

He knew how to make the right choices. That was good, even if she was the one being cast aside.

It didn’t matter. She’d always known they belonged to different worlds. It was impossible.

She gave him a polite smile. You’re making too much of it, Mr. Tudor. Let’s just pretend nothing happened.

Then she lowered her head to resume work, noticing the corner of the document was crumpled where she’d gripped it too tightly.

She tried to smooth it out, but no matter what she did, the wrinkles remained. She gave up and focused on her work.

Teddy returned with freshly brewed coffee, placing cups on both Julian’s and Louisa’s desks.

The three continued working, though throughout the evening, Teddy kept glancing between them.

Everything seemed normal, yet he couldn’t shake the feeling that something had changed. Had he missed something during his brief

coffee break?

By the time they finished, it was nearly midnight. The three walked to the underground parking garage together.

Julian got into his car. Louisa got into hers. They exchanged polite goodbyes.

Back home, Louisa felt exhausted. Though this was actually early compared to her previous overtime hours at the Capulet Group, the

intensity of the work would tire anyone, genius or not.

She quickly showered and lay down, ready to sleep, when the pain in her stomach became unbearable.

She’d been suppressing it all evening, but now she couldn’t ignore it any longer.

After tossing and turning, she went downstairs to retrieve her medicine box. Stomach problems were a chronic issue for her, so she always

kept medication on hand.

Opening the box, she discovered she’d run out of pills.

Pub or other spion and wants to sleep anyway, she changed pan set clothes sad went out to bary medicine.

It was already pest mes in the morning, and most pharmacies were closed,

the skarked on her phone and found a 24 hour pharmacy. Driving there, she discovered the pharmacy had closed down and was available

She’d run out of patience and energy to keep searching. Defeated, she slumped over her steering wheel.

Outside in the darkness, insects swarmed around a streetlight. A few moths repeatedly flew into the light, seemingly oblivious to the

danger.

She laughed weakly. How foolish they were. Didn’t they know that light was their doom? Yet they still flew toward it like moths to a flame. So stupid.

As she mucked them, her eyes began to sting. Tears fell without warning. She wiped them away, but they kept coming. She had never cried from stomach pain before. This was the first time,

She buried her face against the steering wheel, letting her tears soak her clothes and the wheel itself, completely unaware of the black car parked at an angle not far behind her, which had been following her the whole time,

Inside the car, Julian stared at her hunched figure with furrowed brows,

In the driver’s seat, Noah was fighting to stay awake, He had already gone home for the night when duty called again.

As Louisa’s bodyguard, Noah had been protecting her discreetly, After watching her enter the residential parking garage, he hadn’t Immediately left, staying in his car to take a call.

Just as he was about to head home, he’d spotted Louisa leaving the garage again. He quickly followed her and reported the situation to Julian. They had now been trailing her for over an hour.

Noah yawned repeatedly. Mr. Tudor, how much longer are we going to follow her? Why can’t we just approach her directly?

After a moment of silence, Julian replied in a heavy voice, If we approach her directly, she’ll be frightened again.

Frightened? Of what? Noah didn’t understand,

You wouldn’t understand,Julian sald.

Noah fell silent. He truly didn’t get it.

One wandering the streets in the middle of the night instead of sleeping. Another following her around, also not sleeping, but trying not

to be discovered

Was the adult world always this complicated? If so, he hoped he’d never grow up.

Julian scanned the row of closed storefronts when a pharmacy sign caught his eye. A realization hit himcould she be having stomach

pain again?

He recalled how little she had eaten during their overtime session, not even touching the soup she usually loved.

Had she been feeling unwell the entire time? Had she endured it for five or six hours without saying a word? What was going through her

mind?

He felt a mixture of anger, heartache, and physical pain all over.

Go to the trunk, get the stomach medication, then go ask her what’s wrong,he finally instructed Noah. Find a way to give her the

medicine.

Noah was even more confused. If she’s not feeling well, why don’t we just give her the medicine directly? Why do we need to find a

way?

Julian gave him a cold look. You think she’s as simpleminded as you?

Noah fell silent. Why was he being insulted while just sitting there?

Seeing his boss’s obvious concern, he didn’t dare argue further. He quickly retrieved the medicine from the trunk, put it in his pocket, and walked toward Louisa’s car.

Louisa was still slumped over her steering wheel, exhausted but unable to sleep. Hearing someone tap on her window, she looked up and

saw Noah,

Surprised, she rolled down the window. Noah? What are you doing here?

Noah was about to ask what was wrong, but seeing her reddened eyes, he blurted out, Ms. Forbes, have you been crying? Did someone

upset you?
